๐Put a pin on your calendars, my dear viewers! This Friday at 8 PM EET we are uploading a new video on the DrasCOOL channel!
For those of you who don't know, @illustrossi and I did a video last year, where we gave our thoughts and reviews on the comic series named โCassieโ. โCassieโ is a Sci-fi, adventure comic series created by our friend Anna Nikolova. Check out her channel - โช@starsandbeyond5848โฌ for more contexts and please do support her, because she is incredible! At the end of this video we promised to do an interview with her! And finally part 1 of that interview is coming to your screens! Hope to see you on Friday! ๐ซถ
Recently I watched the finale of The Amazing Digital Circus and got so inspired to do a crossover art piece of the characters from my story as the cast of the show.
I have been writing my story since 2018 and even from back then I have written Shlyapin to be VERY Kinger coded. That was way before Kinger even existed on our screens! Shlyapin is spaced out, easily startled and tends to be in his own head almost all the time. He also...may or may not...be grieving the loss of someone significant...and that is a big plot point in the story.... ๐ When I first saw Kinger's character in the show, I was so shocked at the similarities!
As for the others, there aren't as similar as Shlyapin and Kinger, however there are some traits that they share, like Pomni and Zimov being big problem solvers, Ragatha and Papirosna being the kind-hearted "moms" of the group, Zooble and Petrov being sassy and argumentative.
Now...for Caine and Tumanich...well, I would say that Tumanich does have the outward theatricality and the charisma of our favorite ringmaster, but deep down, Tumanich may be more similar to Caine's inspiration - AM. ๐๐๐ Take that information as you will...๐
You can also watch this short on my YouTube channel - DrasCOOL, in which I share some of my thoughts on the finale along side a SpeedPaint of this exact drawing. ๐
I might make a full review video in the future, so if you are interested, stay tuned for that.
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
Okay WOW. Itโs been a couple days after the finale now and I have a LOT of thoughts to share on it. Spoilers below of course so please watch the episode first if you care about not getting spoiled! ๐๐๐
First, overall, I loved it! I enjoyed it! I cried like a baby! To knock out some stuff, I first off canโt stress enough how good the music was, it really added to the emotional experience when watching the episode. Also I loved loved loved loved that scene where Pomni and Ragatha hug. ๐ฅบ๐ฅบ๐ฅบ Another thing I really liked was how Kingerโs account of an abstracted Queenie calming down in darkness from Episode 3 came back in the form of Pomni using that idea to shoot out the lights in the hall to calm Jax. Itโs good use of foreshadowing and also it revealed a now very obvious fact that all the abstractions, not just Queenie, prefer and calm down in the dark.
The highlight of the whole episode though was Jax and the closing of his character arc. I actually wasnโt too surprised to see he eventually abstracted because since Episode 6, we were on edge all the time worried whether Jax might abstract or not through various scenes (the restroom at the awards ceremony, the trip scene in Episode 7, etc). It was only a matter of when. Still, my reaction to seeing his abstraction was, โWell, shit!โ
The what-if scenes of other characters like Zooble or Ragatha abstracting were actually very uncomfortable to watch, in a good way! Especially Ragathaโs, Jesus Christ. Though as a friend told me, I REALLY love how Pomni in that specific scenario tells Jax โI can fix youโ instead of something like โI can try to help,โ as itโs only Jaxโs idea of Pomni speaking. Interestingly, we donโt see the what-if scenes for Kinger and Pomni abstracting. I think Kingerโs wasnโt shown because Jax doesnโt interact with him much but I also believe itโs because Jax doesnโt think anything would significantly change in the aftermath of Kingerโs abstraction because of Kingerโs reputation for being insane. This is citing the ending of Episode 3 where Jax asks Pomni what it was like spending time with โthe nutcase,โ then being surprised when she didnโt agree with him and instead said it was fine. Forgive me for the disgusting amount of โI thinksโ in this post ๐ญ BUT I THINK Jax believes that everyone else looks down on Kinger like he does, and no one would miss him if he was gone. Obviously, this is wrong, but Jax is wrong on a lot of things! ๐ค Now for why Pomni abstracting wasnโt shown, Iโm not completely sure but perhaps itโs because he finds the idea of it way too disturbing for him considering his closer relationship to her.
Onto Jaxโs backstory and why he fell out with Ribbit and Kaufmo. I love Ribbit and Kaufmoโs voices omg ๐ฅบ Ribbit mentioning she was raised Mormon caught me off guard! Since we have been so deeply intertwined with the circus atmosphere, we definitely forget that these characters have real lives. Also I have been watching a lot of content from ex-Mormons (Iโm not Mormon the subject is just very interesting ๐) which is the likelier reason for me being jumpscared by Mormonism haha. The conversation between her and Jax was so interesting. I agree with Ribbit that Jax probably didnโt kill his mom just from pushing her. If anything from the sound of it, she wasnโt the best mother to him and I like to think she only played dead to make him feel guilty about pushing her. Or maybe she was knocked unconscious. Whatever the case, the police clearly didnโt do anything about it! Iโm actually going to continue about Jaxโs fallout with Kaufmo and Ribbit laterโฆ
I do have one major caveat with the finale though and itโs something Iโm actually pretty mixed over! That is Caineโs return. Now donโt get me wrong, I LOVE CAINE! Thereโs just a part of me that believes he shouldnโt have come back and that the characters themselves instead discover their real names and identities. Plus, his deletion was incredibly impactful plot wise and him staying dead, while leaving a big Caine shaped hole in the plot, would make his character even more interesting. I donโt hate the scenes of him realising and redeeming himself though and having fun with the characters at the end! I donโt know, Iโm just both happy that he came back yet simultaneously weirdly disappointed that he wasnโt actually deleted. I guess I was seeing Caine as a more tragic character than anything and him being dead felt like the final wrap up for his character in that moment? Who knows! But Iโm not fuming over Caine not dying, I enjoyed his parts nonetheless when watching the episode.
I actually really love the fact that the real life counterparts to the human characters are still out there living their best lives! Itโs very cathartic, especially for the abstracted characters, that their lives didnโt end with just the circus. Also, GANGLE BEING SOUTH ASIAN HELL YEAH I LOVE THAT REPRESENTATION ๐ค๐ค
Okay now back to Jax. Iโm actually going to refer to Jax with she/her pronouns from here. It was especially cathartic seeing her real life self living a stable life and I do think her dressing very alternately is a sign that she is beginning to come out of her shell and be more experimental in their gender identity, which is amazing. I wish the best for irl Jax! But Jax in the circus howeverโฆyeah she got what was coming to her. I mean, she said it herself, โI did this to myself.โ Ever since Jaxโs conversation with Ribbit, she basically orchestrated her own downfall by choosing to be a shitty person, bullying everyone around her and seeing any sign of friendship towards her as an intruder trying to take advantage of her vulnerabilities. While I do feel sorry for Jax in terms of how she got to the circus and her internal struggles with her gender and opening up, I do not want to excuse her actions.
I think Jax is a very good case of why being vulnerable with people is important. Obviously, not everyone needs to open up all the time, some people like keeping to themselves and are fine with that, and we shouldnโt force someone to be vulnerable. In Jaxโs case however, she really needed to talk to someone, like Ribbit, Kaufmo or Pomni especially. But she chose not to and in turn suffered the consequences of her choice. More specifically regarding LGBTQIA+ themes, Jax is a good representation as for why coming-out and embracing your identity is so important for many people! I can see why Gooseworx related to Jax the most, I can also relate to Jax in the aspect of conflict over gender identity since Iโm Nonbinary! Happy Pride Month to everyone by the way! ๐๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ๐ซถ
To close off, I love the finale. I know some people are way more critical than others in terms of how the show ended or how the show played out in its entirety. Iโve seen some discussion over Jaxโs character taking up too much of the show to which Iโm not sure how to think about that myself. I recognise balance in stories is important but itโs really hard to judge here as TADC is Gooseโs story. Of course criticism is important and just because someone as an idea doesnโt make it the best idea in that context, but Iโm just saying Iโm not completely sure on how to feel with criticism over Jaxโs role in the story. Thereโs plenty of criticisms I feel like I SHOULD name but canโt think about right now regarding the show, which may be a good sign of the showโs balance, but thatโs just me. Iโm coming out of this show very content with where itโs ending! I think Goooseworx and everyone who worked on this show did a phenomenal job and Iโm glad to have experienced The Amazing Digital Circus throughout its running. Thank you. โฅ๏ธ

Be me, currently scrolling Tumblr while standing under a cold shower clothed since France is scorching hot and you just happen to have the worst heat tolerance imaginable!
Yayyyy! :D
In all seriousness be safe guys! This heatwave SUCKS. Thanks climate crisis, or more accurately, thanks people in power who are continuing to ignore the fact that we are in a climate crisis. Also just to clarify I am taking breaks between using the shower like this to cool off because I donโt want to waste too much water. Still, STAY HYDRATED ๐ฃ๏ธ๐ฃ๏ธ๐ฃ๏ธโผ๏ธโผ๏ธโผ๏ธ
Recently I watched the finale of The Amazing Digital Circus and got inspired to do a crossover art piece of the characters from my WIP project as the cast of the show. โA happy day: the Lord sent us a third daughterโMaria, who was safely born at 12.10!โ โNicholas IIโs diary (from A Lifelong Passion by Andrei Maylunas and Sergei Mironenko)
โTall, plump with sable brows, a bright blush on her open Russian face, she is especially appealing to a Russian heart. One looks and involuntarily imagines her dressed in a Russian Boyar sarafan; around her arms one imagines muslin sleeves, on the high breastโprecious stones, and above the high white browโa kokoshnik with exquisite pearls ...ย her eyes illuminate her entire face with a unique, radiant luster; they sometimes seem black, as long eyelashes throw shadows over the bright blush of her soft cheeks. She is merry and alive, but she has not yet awakened completely to life; probably concealed in her are the immense forces of a real Russian woman.โ โSofia Ofrosimova (from Maria Romanov: Third Daughter of the Last Tsar, Diaries and Letters, 1908-1918)
A comic about book bans, ppl's continued dismissiveness of asexuality, and ppl's lack of understanding around what it means to be queer, and why they should be worried about book bannings.
I'll add smth here cos I learned after posting this on IG that people still aren't entirely understanding how scary and dangerous this is. Ppl kept saying to me 'I can still buy your book in shops though' or 'Its okay, I'll order your book into my library!'
I dont give af about my book lol No one outside of Ace ppl ever read it, its yearly sales don't even cover a month of expenses for me.
The thing you should all be concerned about is that a totally benign unheard of book about someone's every day life is being banned. And those laws listed above are passing through US government right now. One of those laws would make it so that any teacher/librarian in the US could lose their job/go to prison for simply sharing 'ideology'- and I don't mean only lgbtq folk, these laws are attacking black history, civil rights history, disability rep in books. Just talking about these things will now legally be considered a 'dangerous ideology'.
And once that's set into law, the US government has backing via law to go ahead and say 'if these books aren't legally allowed in schools, then they shouldn't be allowed in shops, either.' And from there it sets up a great argument for 'The dangerous content in these books is lawfully being removed from public, shouldn't we be lawfully removing the people living out/promoting this ideology too?'
I can see why ppl don't fully understand how dangerous book bannings are, if they're not familiar with the history of fascism. If you're interested, there are plenty of graphic novels that share this history via first hand accounts- Maus, Persepolis, Banned Book Club.
But guess what? You're on limited time to get these via libraries...cos all three of these books are on banned lists too, and they got nothing to do with lgbtq rep, and everything to do with warning ppl about fascism.
And the US government knows it can get away with this, because they are passing these laws as we speak and barely anyone is doing anything about it or talking about it. I've been trying to talk about it for years and no one does anything except say to me 'don't worry, I'll buy your book!' or say its a badge of honour that I have a banned book.
So I'll emphasise once more. If you live in the USA, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR REP ABOUT THESE LAWS!
I absolutely second this! Iโm an American living in Europe but please please please my fellow Americans, contact your local representative, and even then donโt stop talking about these subjects. They were doing this shit in Nazi Germany, they were doing this shit in the States during the Cold War when McCarthyism was rampant, and they are doing it again now.
Every time I read the news regarding what is happening in the United States right now, it makes me more and more grateful that my mom hauled our asses to Europe. Itโs not perfect by far, frankly there are many censorship concerns we should also address that is happening over here. But what is happening in the states is very concerning regardless and itโs important to make our voices known and to not lose hope for the future no matter how bad things may get.

Disclaimer: My story isnโt meant to fully reflect real history or real people. It is a piece of alternative history, otherwise being fiction.
Worldโs biggest hater (Serhiy) vs. worldโs biggest glazer (Zinovy), and Alexei would rather deal with the formerโฆ!
The fact that some people hold him in high regard just because of his title really irritates Alexei. The fact that some of those people went so far as to join a cult worshipping him as the incarnation of Jesus Christ is especially disturbing to Alexei, as well as his sisters.
Alsoโlooks too closely at the first panelโHIS ELBOW ISNโT RESTING ON THE TABLEEEE NOOOOOO!!!
Ahem otherwise, I am VERY PROUD of this drawing, obviously itโs a redraw of that one comic turned meme. My favourite aspect of it is Anastasiaโs face in the first panel ๐คฃ
happy pride! remember that being transgender is everything but fiction. there are so many real historical figures from every century about whose transgender identities we aren't even aware of
on this picture i drew Alexandr Andreevich Alexandrov - cavalry officer of the russian imperial army that participated in napoleonic wars. people persistently keep on misgendering mispronounsing deadnaming and calling him a crossdresser although alexandrov clearly stated that he didn't want to be called by his deadname and being treated like anything but a man. that's an interesting historical figure and i wanted to draw attention to his person. i can't tell everything about him in only one post so i recomend you to read about alexandrov by yourself
also be proud of yourself and remember that you're valid! ๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ
Even if she HAD stolen the diapers... Why are you shooting at someone over diapers. That wasn't because he cared about no damn theft. He wanted to shoot, and he killed a one year old over it.
The end! ๐ฅณ Thank you all so much for reading this blast from the past! ๐ It was honestly a great study of how I used to structure stories and where I struggled. While I was personally reading it there was a lot of cringe, a lot of genuine suprise at how well some scene flew and of course, a lot of notes on what I want to change or work on for the future of these characters and this story. ๐
I would be honored if you all share your thoughts on this pilot, even if it's outdated. ๐ซถ
Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia: 5/18 June 1901โ17 July 1918
โAt exactly 6 oโclock in the morning a little daughterโAnastasiaโwas born.โ โNicholas IIโs diary (from A Lifelong Passion by Andrei Maylunas and Sergei Mironenko)
โShe was the imp of the whole house, and the glummest faces would always brighten in her presence, for it was impossible to resist her jokes and nonsense. She was very boisterous, and sometimes a good deal too temperamental. Every impulse, every new sensation was something she immediately had to indulge to the full; she was aflame with life and animation. Even at sixteen she still behaved like a headstrong young foal that has run away from its master. In her play, in her realising her wishes, in her schemes, in everything she did, there was the same impetuousness and youthful enthusiasm - except, alas, in her lessons. I have mentioned that when she was younger this failing caused many scenes. When I rebuked her then, I felt she positively hated me, and her eyes went quite dark; but her rage vanished as quickly as it had come. A quarter of an hour later all was forgotten, and happy smile would appear on her cheeks, where the tears were still drying. She took calmly any punishment she felt was justified, but was deeply injured by any unfairness, and fought against it with every fibre of her being. For all her weaknesses you were bound to love this child, because you could not escape from her irresistible charm, made up of freshness, enjoyment of life, ingenuousness and simplicity.โ โPierre Gilliard, The False Anastasia

I canโt believe Isidor Konstantinovich and Sapar Akhmetovich inspired the socialist fraternal kiss ๐ค
Finally this rough comic is DONEEE โจโจโจ I actually had a lot of fun with it! The only real thing that got in the way was my actual real life, but I am FINALLY done with my semester and am now back home in the land of Isidor (France! ๐ซ๐ท) and will spend the rest of pride month there!
But this isnโt the only pride related drawing I plan to make! Nor is it the only drawing parody I will be recreating with my own OCs ๐
Iโm sure Mstislav and Danylo are out of frame, looking at Issy and Sapar thinking, โI thought he meant pride for the revolutionโ why are they making out??โ
