Son Hak is amazing. I'm not even fully sure I can detail all the ways that he is, but it leads me to wonder a question. Where does he really come from? Hak is an orphan from the Wind Tribe, but we know nothing of his biological family. He might not have even been from that tribe originally. I just want to know what type of DNA leads to the sheer awesomeness that is him. When I first started the show, I had Avatar the Last Airbender on the brain and just assumed that the Wind Tribe = airbenders. It was how I had to rationalize him being this skilled because mere mortals can't compare. As I read more of the manga, I continue to be impressed. Comparing him to the dragons, the actual mythical beings, Hak doesn't need to get saved half as often. Not even one-quarter as often if we're being honest. So, how do dragons with magical powers need to be rescued, but not a "normal" 18/19-year old? Is he actually the Darkness Dragon?? I would 100% believe that. He's just on a different level from other people. I wish. WISH we knew more of his backstory. I want to know who his parents were, if he has any siblings (because those could be very interesting to see. Imagine the help or the horror if they're evil), and how he came to be in general. For now, I suppose I'll just have to speculate. I do want to do a fanfic of that some day. I'd love it if the manga beat me to it and gave me a canon answer though...just throwing that out there.
