Where'd she even come from!? The silence startled him first, but her appearance didn't help the unease. She was some kind of Monster, for sure, but hey. He knew a lot of Hometown was afraid of Kris for being terrifying, too, but the kid was just a kid.
Well, she didn't seem unfriendly! Susie looked scary too, but she was... ...not here. ... No, he perks up. There's a Lightner here! He can't focus on that right now.
"Sure! Why don't you take it? Hold still, let me juuuuuust...!"
After tilting his head this way and that, trying to find a good spot... he finally places the crown of crocuses on the terrifying stranger's head.

A low giggle bubbled from behind Cyn's ravenous grin. She'd managed to introduce herself with that same trick to many people in the city by this point- even catching Uzi with it when she first found her here! Getting someone to jump in surprise at her appearance never failed to leave her tickled pink. Or rather, it wouldn't if undead robots and the decades-old corpses they swaddled themselves in could be turned pink in any capacity.
Maybe it was an inappropriate idiom to use. Or maybe idioms were just dumb for being non-literal. More like idiots. Hah, gottem.
There was little time to focus on the stupidity of linguistic devices, though, when the TV man was putting the crown upon her head just so! Her eyes glanced upwards expectantly as if she'd be able to see how it looked atop her head, metal fingertips bridging together while her fleshier set of hands clasped tightly into excitable fists.
"Excited shaking! It looks...J U S T per-perfect! Like I was, 𝚋𝚘𝚛𝚗 to have- So Many Flowers." She struts around a bit, one foot crossing in front of the other each time like a model. Her unsteady gait, of course, lends itself poorly to attempts at grace. "Imagine being b-b-born, though. So weird. Thank you, bee tee way!"

With all these pretty little flowers around, maybe making a flower crown out of them would take his circuits off of things. After all, now that he could actually be around real flowers, he could finally recreate that little chain from the beginning of that one Alice's Adventures movie. Too bad he didn't have a cute little cat, too.

It wasn't with the gloves off, anyway. Which was fine! Pollen didn't stain metal like it did fabric.

There was the sound of a soft flicker. Just quieter than the sound of an old monitor shutting down. Then-

Though a splotch or two of That Fucking Pollen That She Hates still lightly dusted Cyn's person, her dead, luminous eyes locked onto the flower crown with an abject fascination. Her mouth hung agape with her tongue hanging loosely, only reeling back in to comment further.
"Pensive humming.
WELL! You could figure out how, to wear it some way. Or maybe! I could try? The Flower-Crown-Oversized-Bow co-ombo is, SO in."
"Achoo!

sniffle. Gee-ee whiz this, pollen is...KILLER on the- sinuses!"
"Mischievous snicker. 𝚓𝚞𝚜𝚝 𝚔𝚒𝚍𝚍𝚒𝚗𝚐. I don't ha-ave those. Or, sneezing reflexes either! But for real, this… stupid flower dust is just, MINORLY. completely infuriating.” The drone attempts to fan some of the pollen off the skin and clothing she wears, really wishing she could just grow wings again and give ‘em a hearty flap to handle the airborne irritant.
It's nice not having to deal with so many people at night. No having to maneuver through groups of drunken frat boys, avoiding eye contact with people on their walk or shame, or dodging teachers or security guards. The last thing Uzi needs right now is a barrage of questions, like what are you doing out so late, or where are you going, or what's in the bag, or Uzi you know you can't dig through dumpsters and boring crap like that. Whatever the case, Uzi doesn't really keep her guard up any more than she usually does, and so she's not expecting it when she gets a-
"JUMPSCARE!!"
"Jesus fucking Christ!"
Instinctively, Uzi's hands go to yank the thing on her back off of her, but it doesn't budge. So her bag falls to the ground, and now she's about to get fucking axe murderer'd even though her inner monologue just said she wasn't too worried about it, and N's gonna be-
Cyn's voice sounds in her ear, and Uzi realizes that she's not in any immediate danger. Not exactly safe, but not about to die right this second. Probably.
"Fuck, Cyn! You can't- Please don't do that," she says, trying to will her heart to stop trying to leap out of her chest. "You're gonna give me a heart attack before the killer even has a chance at me."
Cyn is scary. Uzi always got the feeling that N and the others were operating under some vague agreement to not cause too much trouble, but Cyn either doesn't know or doesn't care about it. There's a sense that the only reason she's playing along is because she feels like it right now, and god help anyone around when she doesn't want to anymore. But Uzi is safe, right? 'Cuz she's dating N? Right?
"Yeah, well, as you know, I'm kind of used to dealing with dangerous things-slash-people. So I'm not worried," she says, trying to dislodge her hitchhiker. "Hey, can you- can you get off me? You made me drop all my stuff, and I need it back before people start asking annoying questions."
A torrent of giggles bubble up from behind Cyn's self-aware grin. The explosive, exasperated reaction from the other girl is exactly the kind of thing she lived for. She'd always really liked Uzi! Something about her feels like the potential to cause real trouble is always simmering beneath the surface, but she can't simply be dealt with in the same way Cyn was used to doing since she was dating N. So assault akin to that from a merciless younger sibling has to do.
"Oh yes! I would never even, begin to think you'd worry." Her head lolls to the other side, her visible eye wandering off while she muses about the target of her relatively tame torment. "Imagine who else around here...thinks like you do. Thinks they've got the chops, to be the Big Hero...and prove to be. Sadly. Mistaken. Since they aren't you! Kind of feels, bad for them huh?" A sentiment her expression fails to convey in any meaningful regard.
Only then does she pry herself off Uzi's back, stepping away a pace or two while simply watching. Her expression has softened to a simple smile now, yet the devilish joy still seems quite evident. "You're right! Annoying questions are just, the TOTAL worst. So, what are you! Doing walking around this late?"

How the night life on campus had dwindled since those rumors began. Not like it was ever particularly bustling. Mostly just groups hanging around outside their dorms during a party, a crowd or two on the quad, the procrastinating art student riding their bike to the building with all the printers in it.
Nowadays the night owls were even more scarce. Trips after dark were taken with even greater expedience, partygoers all crammed inside. Not to mention staff were always shooing students along, trying to enforce some curfew that wasn't really instated. It was like they didn't want any more students to vanish into their uncertain doom! What a bunch of squares.
Of course, there were always the rebels hanging about. The ones who either didn't believe the rumors, or thought they could take whatever was lurking out there. Or maybe they were just an angsty teen. Someone with just enough nihilism to travel the campus under the moonlight knowing full well what was going on but never letting fear grip them. Someone who didn't ever glance around, fretting about when they might just suffer a-
"JUMPSCARE!!" A self-announcing Cyn sprung upon Uzi's upper back, with neither the mass nor acceleration to knock her over- only seeking to cling onto her like some kind of shoulder-devouring alien. One silvery tendril of hair hung over the taller girl's body as her assailant tilted her head, wearing a smile broadcasting a world of awareness about the annoyance she was causing and without a drop of concern for it. "Not even using, the Buddy System Uzi? So bold, SO cool...so protagonist, of you. Giggle."

What a perfectly normal pale human girl this is! Seems to really enjoy taking night classes more than any other ones for some reason.
Doesn’t have much of a filter but fortunately isn’t usually rude about it- just unusual, self-narrative, a bit macabre at times. Normal girl talk, in other words.
Takes a lot of dance classes! Doesn't really get involved in many clubs on account of how she's not around during the day which is totally fine and not a weird thing.

He jumped higher into the air, not expecting this… thing to have teleported into his vicinity. “You scared the bees knees out of me!” He narrowed his eyes, or well, his teeth closed closer together to mimic narrowed eyes. “Are you an AI? You sound like my grandpa, But a girl.” Ah, good ‘ol grandpappy IBM 7094. If Caine himself was anything to go by, then AI must love watching people.
“Hmmm, well I was watching that woman-” He pointed a gigantic finger at some random lady with big hair, everyone easily able to tell that he was pointing. His hand shrunk back. “Look at that hair! That rendering is amazing, uh- but I can definitely do better! Its just my artstyle!”
Oh, Cyn did love herself a jumpscare. Few of the people in the city she'd met had come up to her, so it had always been on her to take that first step- usually one that carried her as close as possible as suddenly as possible. She couldn't help but want to keep them on their toes a little bit.

I guess you could call, all us drones AI. Though! Sometimes the "I" is...questionable. 𝙶𝚒𝚐𝚐𝚕𝚎." Granted, it fit the usual image of an AI a lot more than most drones did, but no need to uncork that world-devouring genie bottle yet. Right now was the time to put things together. While he didn't look the part of any she was familiar with, if this guy was comparing her to his grandpa, he was definitely some sort of AI too.
Either that or he thought she was some gross old guy. She could figure that out later and give an appropriate reaction.
"Oh wOAW! That is, One Outstanding Hairstyle. Good choice! As for me I. Like that guy." Though she had no cartoonishly large hands to point with, she used the two upon her right arm to point to a casually dressed man wearing a beanie. "That hat reminds me of... somebody VERY s i l l y. So anyone wearing one must be, like her!"

Caine was at this mall looking around for… Whatever fits his fancy he supposed! He hated that this ai seemed to have removed his own ai-related powers.
What was odd though was that he felt… watched. That’s weird! He’s the guy who watches people uncomfortably all the time! He turned his head around, scanning the area for anyone who could be spying on him.
Another people-watcher was nothing new around here; Cyn had watched her own fair share of them before! Usually they seemed to have some ulterior motive, though, at least when she cared to chat them up. This silly pair of teeth atop a body looked more as though he were simply struck with wonder about every mall goer that passed him by. Something more akin to herself, though only a bit less creepy. Only a bit, really.
Naturally she kept herself out of sight when he began to look around. She knew when they felt watched, and knew just how long to wait, to make them feel the paranoia drift away…before, in a flash of yellow light, she was directly behind him, head in one pair of hands, elbows propped on the nearest horizontal surface.
“SO! Which one of them is…your favorite, so far?”

Cyn continues to shovel human snacks into her gullet despite the claims of not enjoying it. The question asked makes her cock her head to one side, her blank smile not betraying the contemplation she gives her potential answer.

The moment N had heard there were cute little buppers somewhere on spirale, he knew he had to make his way to Netwalk to meet them! He's been here for a bit already, kneeling in between a whole gaggle of them and doing his absolute best to pet them all at the same time. However, more of them kept coming, and if N could sweat he would be!
"Okay, okay, hang on, there's enough of me to go around--" He laughs a bit, thinking to himself that Uzi would find this sight so funny, and that he'll have to bring her here at some point. However, he's snapped out of those happy thoughts as all the pups freeze up, noting the way their screens glitch in a familiar way.
They get defensive and N feels a chill run down his spine.
He lets out a yelp as Cyn's voice comes out from behind him, whirling around so fast his tail likely swipes a couple of the pups in the face! N does his best to recover, unsure of Cyn will react if he seems scared or upset or?! He doesn't know what to do! He knew she was here, but he hadn't run into her yet!
"Oh, h-hey Cyn! I'm uh-- so happy to see. Yₒᵤ." His voice squeaks out of him, and he swallows hard.
"No no, it's nothing like that, haha! This is a big city, it took me forever to even find Uzi when I g-got here! How -- How are you?!"
Cyn gives no audible reaction to N's frightful response, though her dead pupils do dilate visibly. The sort of reflex that occurs when witnessing something that gives one joy. And that smile...the same wide, wicked grin she so often wears, stretched across her face and Tessa's as her head cocks to the side opposite its current lean.
She's all too aware of how unnerving N finds her presence. And though she doesn't feel the same towards him, it does little to deter her affection for her brother.
If anything, it amplifies it.
"I am doing SUPER!! Thanks, for asking. New friends were found! new frie-ends were lost. I'm even getting my. Start in the...music biz! Keep an ear out for, the next Nu-Number One Jam."
She hobbles around to one side of N, encircling him like a predatory beast on skin-suit stilts. The Netpups continue to react aggressively to her presence, growling and standing their ground. She pays them no mind, instead just bringing a hand up from her side, a Solver glyph rotating gently above.
"Hey have you! Seen This Thing?"
From somewhere tucked inside her dress, a black flyer is pulled free, floating in the air between the two. The implication is obvious, and though the terminology isn't quite the same as this case, she peeks out from behind it to echo something she asked a long time ago and make the unspoken explicit.
"Perhaps, you'd like to a-attend the gala with me?"
