What makes this scene so delicious is that Richard is trying SO HARD to form a connection with Jimmy. Richard talks more than maybe he ever does again-I used to read books, here’s my war souvenir, here’s how I killed this German, oh by the way I’m a virgin and that bothers me-and anytime Jimmy looks away Richard is desperately making eye contact. He wants that connection with Jimmy, and he gets it.

AND I FUCKING LOVE IT.
