A person, a child, woke up somewhere underground. He was alone, he wouldn’t know what he would do, or talk about if there were someone around. He was in pain. His stomach hurt, his body hurt, there was something red around him, there was a bit coming out of him as well. It seemed to flake and harden as time went on, turning brown and falling off his body as he moved. There were also black flecks on his skin. He looked at his skin again, it was a dark brownish color. He lay there for a while, taking in his dank surroundings, before the pain in his stomach began hurting more. He moved his arms. He moved his legs. He eventually got up on all fours and started crawling around. There were some things in the distance, some made a steady noise dripping, others made noise as they moved through the dark, and some screeched. But there was only one that interested him, the distant thing that made light. He crawled towards it as his stomach growled, the pain getting worse. He had almost reached the light, when a scraping noise came from behind him. The thing looked like a large chicken made of raw and rotting flesh, eyes were all over its body, none in the “right place,” its beak was filled with teeth, there were six wings flapped at random and none in the right direction for flight, there were several arms on its body of different sizes and with differing amounts of digits on them. All of its flicking eyes suddenly focused on him and it made a sound that was a mixture of a down toned kazoo mixed with a door repeatedly being slammed closed. It charged towards him, its arms outstretched, its mouth open. He didn’t know what it was, and didn’t know what it was going to do nor did he know what harm was. But all of that changed when it wrapped its arms around his neck and started choking him. He froze in shock until the pain sank in, he writhed, tearing off one of its arms. He then smacked it on the face, sending it flying. Its body away, the little smack this child gave it being stronger than he expected. Some of the red fluid that had been around him earlier was leaking from the creatures body as it flapped and writhed around on the floor.  The red fluid smelled of metal, and contrasted with the earthy damp scent of the rest of the cave. The small made his stomach hurt more. For the first time he thought. Not very complex thoughts, but thoughts nonetheless. He thought that if he ate that thing, his stomach would hurt less. He crawled/ walked over there, his knees were off the ground in excitement and haste. He pinned the creature down, and began tearing into its flesh with his teeth. The flesh was chewy, revolting, and wonderful all at the same time. The taste didn’t matter, only the fact that it slightly staved the hunger. But it didn’t go away, the pain stayed. The light, and the sounds beyond it, would have something that would make his greedy stomach silent. To be continued
