Laid up in bed with horrible stomach cramps and joint pains and nausea trying to convince myself that I can and will go work my manual labor job
sorry was definitely going to respond to everyone last night but watched tvl and then convinced myself I had acute lead toxicity
do you all mind if I take you through some nonsensical thoughts I’ve been having. So the situation is: I am going from a double bed to a queen bed at my house which is very exciting. No more toes hanging off the bed. Love that. however now I am for the first time faced with the liquidity and means to buy whatever bedding I want. Which is actually extremely intimidating considering that for my entire adult life I’ve been sleeping on sheets left by previous roommates and my one big splurge was a $60 basket weave blanket five years ago that had me awake and sweating at night thinking about the sheer indulgence of the purchase. There are definitely some things that I look at and think wow that is such a beautiful bedding set perhaps one of the most beautiful bedding sets I have ever seen and I COULD purchase it however, am I nice bedding person? Am I- with my walmart sheets and overstock cotton blanket capable of being a person that has a beautiful bed? perhaps what will happen is I will get the beautiful linens and I will be wracked with shame over their cost and additionally gutted by their inability to transform me into the type of person who has a nice bed. It seems that being a purely utilitarian bed person is incompatible with being a luxury bed person and the mere idea that buying the nice linens will make that change happen is actually just me falling prey to the consumerist mentality. but despite being crushingly aware that the beautiful bed will not provide any meaningful long term happiness I do so very much want the beautiful bed. then additionally: do I want the beautiful bed because it is beautiful to ME? or has it been marketed to me in such a way that it convinced me of its beauty outside of any taste preferences I might have. and is my reluctance to find cheaper alternatives a sign that the bed truly beautiful beyond compare or is it a sign that the marketing has convinced me that their regular bed is wholly unique. such are my every waking thoughts for the past several weeks.
you guys I have no idea what mogging is

they are inventing bedding colors in the most horrifically ugly chalky pale hues imaginable.
dispatches from work: demo on this kitchen and a pre-repair shot of the bathroom in this dreamy century apartment
creating a playlist for my friend's next magazine release party this thursday and while i basically have enough content for the three hour party i am second guessing the appropriateness of some tracks and would love for people to weigh in with their favorite upbeat/dancey tracks that speak to a bleak world, on theme for a critical arts publication that has artists reflecting on the 250th. also it's a block party
some load bearing tracks that are on tone + message that i already have: heaven 17's we don't need this fascist groove thang, omd kleptocracy, sly & the family stone brave & strong, gang of four capital (it fails us now), erik b. & rakim casualties of war
if i had my way we would be seeing some pop group/mark stewart, nitzer ebb, skinny puppy etc. but i'm being censored by one of the editors who said "that's crazy" and "you can't expect people to listen to industrial music at a block party."
okay here's a rough cut of the playlist so far. work in progress, definitely feel like the top of it needs to be reconfigured but there are some really awesome transitions in here that I'm happy with. I was really extra sneaky about the cabaret voltaire and pop group here's hoping it's not too jarring
(Not very dancy but..) Leonard cohen - everybody knows
ABBA - on and on and on
Eddy grant - electric avenue
appreciate this! always love a leonard cohen track but maybe not the vibe for this- the other two are perfect however, thank you!
