because think about it, when were the only two times Burr had talked Hamilton since It’s Quiet Uptown? The Election of 1800 and Your Obedient Servant. Both of which were times Hamilton was acting as usual and refusing to back down.

My point is that he went into the duel fully believing that Hamilton would shoot him. He’d seen that Hamilton wasn’t opposed to it in Ten Duel Commandments, and he says himself in TWWWE that Hamilton wearing his glasses convinced Burr that he was going to fire.

I see a lot of people’s reaction to Burr saying “this man will not make an orphan of my daughter” is that he’s so selfish for not considering Hamilton’s children, but honestly, why should he? Hamilton’s children wouldn’t be left orphans, and I think most people would care about my children more than those of my greatest rivals anyway.
