Throwback to another Freestyle Love Supreme performance, this time all the way back to 2011. But this time, there is a Hamilton component.
I love these photos, especially the first one as it's so vibrant and dynamic. But there is another reason these photos are special: I believe it's the same night, an Ars Nova benefit on June 20th, 2011, when Lin-Manuel performed My Shot for the first time. The reaction was so good (I mean, imagine listening to My Shot for the first time with no prior knowledge or warning) that led to the Hamilton Mixtape performance at the Lincoln Center on January 11th, 2012 and Lin-Manuel writing a dozen new songs in the 6 months in between.
Worth pointing out: I cannot believe (but I am pleased nevertheless) that the character of Alexander Hamilton made its first public appearance in a moustache.
