PERSONALLY ("Personally" is an adverb used to indicate an action done by oneself [in person], an individual opinion [speaking for oneself]. It highlights that something concerns a specific individual, outside of a strictly professional or objective context.), I HATE the “Noel was catfishing Mischa as Talia” theory/headcanon. First, Mischa says they communicated “in [his] native language on all the social media networks,” there’s no evidence or reason Noel would know Ukrainian, especially not to the point of native fluency. It’s also very easy, especially for a native speaker (and especially as a teenager communicating online as all countries [and even regions/cities/provinces/etc] have their own slang/shortforms/etc), to tell if someone is using a translator. Second, before the song “Talia”, Mischa is shown to be using his phone to project photos/videos which includes various ones of Talia herself. WHERE would Noel be getting multiple photos and videos of the same Ukrainian girl??? Third, Mischa is shown to be texting/attempting to text Talia VERY frequently (even during the video/portions where they were still alive) while near Noel. Using context clues I’m sure Mischa would have texted Talia at LEAST once during choir practice during which NOEL WOULD BE THERE!!! Fourth, they met in Mischa’s YouTube comment section where he uses a pseudonym (“BadEgg”) so HOW would Noel track him down??? And finally, to me, it makes the message of the song “Talia” just feel less emotionally powerful.
