Tried to go to a queer event in my (relatively remote) area only to be the only transfem around and when i asked if that was normal one of the attendants (trans man) there said that there was occasionally a girl who would show up but she was "kind of a bitch" and that "for some reason" they really only had TME regulars

the recent trend to hate on argentina and to characterize doing so as woke has allowed many first worlders to show their true colors. as soon as you all seem to get the 'green light' that hating on a third world country is acceptable you stop hiding your disdain and xenophobia. this and the "calling ice" jokes show you don't actually give two shits about racism or cheating or whatever, you just want a socially acceptable way to hate on latin americans
it's more than a little irritating when tumblrites get all precious about 4chan. the only reason you think this place is better is because of the people you follow. please keep in mind that tumblr has a thriving TERF community, staff only banned the #reichblr tag this year after a trans woman made a fuss about it (they ban her at minimum once a month), kiwifarms uses the place as a hunting ground, etc etc.
it's very obvious to me that it comes from a desire to go, "oh, I'm nothing like a 4channer, all the horrible bad stuff happens somewhere else and has nothing to do with me". and then you scroll past posts talking about anti-Black racism because they made you feel uncomfortable.
hello I was on the internet when 4chan was created, it was made by a bunch of upper-middle-class teenagers as an anime fan forum. I will put this into words you can understand: 4chan is and was just as much a part of "fandom" as tumblr, livejournal, wattpadd, any of it.
it's very obvious to me that it comes from a desire to go, "oh, I'm nothing like a 4channer, all the horrible bad stuff happens somewhere else and has nothing to do with me".
#does it matter why 4chan was created though #like what it became is/was horrible and spawned shit like kiwifarms #and was instrumental in the rise of gamergate and the internet alt-right movement #tumblr is shit but it's had comparatively little cultural impact
prev I have been called a groomer, a pedophile, a rapist, and many more things on this very website in the last six months alone. I've seen so many wonderful, kind, sweethearted trans women get subjected to an endless two-minutes-hate. kiwifarms uses this place as a hunting ground, do you imagine that's because nobody there has a tumblr account?
I reported this in early June, I have heard nothing back. you can go see for yourself that this person is still posting without issue.
#also like just point of order gamergate primarily started on 8chan and reddit #gjoni was laughed off 4chan when he tried to shop his story around there
no say that!! average tumblrite thinks that 4chan did QAnon, no ma'am that was 8chan. I knew that things were going to hell because my dad started posting 4chan screenshots to facebook, when he started posting 8chan screenshots? I started preparing for current year.
this isn't an apology for 4chan, I just need you all to stop reducing social movements to websites. 4chan is not a vibe it is a website, real human people were there and it has a history that you can understand.

continuously amazed at how easily people view JK rowling's bigotry as completely and entirely abstract. like she's not "a famous author who has some bad views" she's an influential bigot, as in, directly funds projects that harm trans women, directly contributes to transmisogynist legislation. to buy harry potter merch isn't just like, oh, i support the art not the artist. it's basically forking over cash to someone who is openly, publicly, fostering a more bigoted world through direct action. it's like watching elon musk do the hitler salute and going "oh well i don't know i just bought the cybertruck cause i like it"
let's all put our thinking caps on and think about if it's more important to be personally comforted by hate symbols or if it's better to be an ally to the trans woman you live with who constantly has to put up with your cutesy megaterf merch.
i don't want to be near someone who constantly invests their fucking hobby money in hate symbology. i don't care how much you like your fucking fandom plushies, i do not want to be reminded day in day out of world's most famous terf who would love for me to die. I don't care if your terf merch was ethically sourced, i don't care if your terf merch has a lot of emotional sentiment, you're cuddling up your bedroom with fucking swastikas for all i care. I don't really care that the trans woman you live with was mean to you actually.
Heya! One of my org comrades - whom I spent the end of our last meeting explaining the origins of British TERFism and pseudo-Marxist bioessentialism to - has asked me if I have any texts or resources I could send their way on Marxist transfeminism*, and since I remember you trying to collate resources in a post a while back (which I can't presently find, you know how Tumblr is) I thought I'd ask you 'cause I personally can't think of any explicitly Marxist stuff, so yeah do you have any recommendations for me to pass along?
*Not in those exact words, they actually just said they found what I said "vis trans and Marxism really interesting" and they're "very into Marxism and phenomenology of identity at the moment", but y'know if I can steer them into actual transfeminism that would be good
hi!! yes ive been working on this for a bit. unfortunately as ive said its tricky and resources are sparse but ive got a lot more than when i first set out on this. im writing some stuff of my own to add to it and compile a lot of feminist and marxist texts through a transfeminist perspective but that wont be ready for some time, so for now heres some stuff i can recommend.
for explicitly marxist transfeminism, the main place id point is evalyn penrose.
Note: This article was written in a USA-specific context.
correct revolution depends on correct analysis
We know we want transgender liberation, but what does that entail?
another work ive been recommended on is marxism and transgender liberation, which should be particularly revelant to your context, though i still need to read it myself
I can also recommend some critiques of dominant feminism's and where they go wrong, Angela Davis' Women Race and Class is one of my favorites, if you're not familiar she was a member of the Black Panther Party, which should give you an idea of her perspective. there is also Enemy Feminisms by Sophie Lewis, she is not a marxist but is a believe a transfem anarchist, so slightly off but still critiques a lot of these issues from a transfeminist perspective. There is also Philosophical Trends of the Feminist Movement by Anuradha Ghandy, a maoist organizer in India. She critiques both radical feminism and terfs, as well as liberal feminisms and even some errors of socialist feminists.
If you want marxist feminism more generally, Sankaras speeches and most of Kollontais writings are good (Social basis of the womens question, etc), but for transfeminism specifically much of it is still in the realm of liberalism (something I am trying to fix), so not much will replace some of the basic foundations yet, like Serano and Crenshaw. Jules Gil-Peterson professes to marxism, but honestly i wasn't a huge fan of A short history of transmisogyny. It may still be worth the read but it requires some scrutiny in my view, in some ways its actually rather anti-transfeminist. I've not read histories of the transgender child but it might be worth looking into further, I'll probably get to it eventually. Similarly Ive heard mixed reviews on Transgender Marxism but given the name its worth noting at the very least.
Bhatt has her own host of problems but I do think The Third Sex is worth a read for people unfamiliar with transfeminism to familiarize themselves with how transmisogyny is often laundered through the language of decolonial feminism.
I can get you links to all of this if you need, just let me know. Serano has whipping girl of course but also a few good articles on her blog, Crenshaw has plenty of writings but the main ones I tend to reference are Demarginalizing the intersection and Mapping the Margins. other short resources that are helpful are Girls you can hit by the part for reclamation and survival, as well as hot allostatic load and the abusers guide if you're wanting to familiarize anyone with how callout posts are often leveraged against transfems in particular. you can also sometimes connect this with Davis' and Crenshaw's writings about sexual purity being weaponized against minorities, if deeper analysis is up for discussion.
I know not all of this is exactly what you've asked for but I was just making a new list earlier and I figured I might as well be somewhat more exhaustive here so I can share this as a more current list of writings on transfeminism which I'd recommend.
I will probably update this more in the future and people are welcome to send me their recommendations, i know theres a lot of smaller writers working on the topic and I'm happy to check those out as relevant. This is just most of where I'm at so far.
oh! and if you're looking to analyzing terfs and where their issues come from Ellen Willis' retrospective radical feminists and feminist radicals is pretty insightful as to how things went the way they did, even if I don't totally agree with Willis
Goodmorning to the Anthropic Claude AI training scraper that suddenly decided to request 660 thousand pages (exactly the number I had remaining on the starter plan) and brought Pikiwedia down.
Sudden switch from diverse user agents like chrome, safari, messenger preview to Just Claudebot. I'm not even mad though, this is maybe the funniest thing possible, because I've inadvertently poisoned their training data with thousands of fucked up articles with normal urls.
Pikiwedia perseveres, back up with a better robots.txt. I hope Anthropic has a gery vood time with Pikiwedia's data :))

I saw an emotional regulation resource that was titled as a resource "for men" & I wanted to talk about this kind of gendering a little.
first, obviously I think it is essential that men learn to handle their emotions, because they are people, and it's everyone's responsibility to learn how to self regulate to the best of their ability. and I understand in some contexts it has utility to have emotional regulation resources presented as "for" men specifically, because on a hegemonic level men are expected to outsource managing their emotions to women and children instead of engaging in this work themselves, so general resources about self regulation are likely to be looked over by most men as not relevant or necessary for them.
but. like that is kind of the problem at the same time.
like the whole issue is men thinking they don't need to learn how to handle emotions (identifying them, processing them, expressing them, channeling them usefully, grounding themselves, addressing underlying issues, etc).
and then these kind of half-way measures that position tips as "mental health FOR MEN" "emotional regulation FOR MEN" inevitably ends up cross-pollinating with MRA style analysis where we get things like
"the MALE loneliness epidemic" (as if women do not also experience loneliness and alienation under current conditions), or
"men aren't allowed to cry" (as if women and children aren't berated and patronized for crying all the time & expected to "smile" for men), or
"men have the highest suicide rates" (implying that men are uniquely prone to being actively suicidal, glossing over that women attempt suicide more often)
which all ends up reinforcing this idea that men's emotions are bigger and more serious and urgent than anyone else's, and men need help to manage them, so "society" (women and children) must help them.
which just reproduces the exact social conditions that cause men to not learn how to manage their emotions in the first place.
”using she/her pronouns for ralsei is misgendering” is functionally the same statement as “you can’t depict that white/light-skinned character brown that’s blackwashing!” And what I mean by this is that the reason whitewashing non-white fictional characters is bad is because you are erasing that character’s marginalized identity in favour of centring whiteness. It harms no one to depict a white character as non-white because whiteness is not a marginalized identity and white people are already centred + widely represented in art and fiction. Now the reason misgendering fictional characters is bad in the case of, say, Kris, is because Kris is non-binary, and misgendering them is erasing their (notably marginalized) identity as a non-binary person. Even in the absence of the incredibly blatant transfeminine coding (if you can even call it coding at this point) of Ralsei particularly in chapter 5, the people referring to Ralsei with she/her pronouns are not erasing any character’s marginalized identity. Men are not marginalized just for being men. This would be one matter if Ralsei was canonically a transgender man like Metatton but that straight up is not the case at all lmao. People on the internet she/her-ing Ralsei is causing zero harm to anyone you just don’t want your blorbo to be a trans girl
chapter 5 was confirmation on stuff that we were already collecting evidence for. transfem ralsei didnt just start having evidence in chapter 5 people have been suspecting it since chapter 2.
ralsei isnt a real person. its not disrespectful to use she/her on ralsei if ralsei doesn’t have a strict canonical gender assigned to them by toby. clearly theres conflict on what ralsei wants vs. a role they have to play. literally its inconsequential
Holy fuck did tumblr actually nuke gooseworx? LMAO it doesn't matter how successful or popular we are, trans women really will just get banned for no reason.
What the fuck was staff thinking? Do they think they won't face any consequences for this? They may be used to getting away with banning trans women in mass, but this is like the worst PR decision ever.

okay, everyone who presses the red button survives regardless, everyone who presses the blue button dies if the blue button count is below 50%, and everyone survives if the majority press the blue button
A third button has been added. everyone who presses the red button survives regardless, but if a majority press the red button, everyone else dies. If a majority of people press the blue button, everyone survives—except for anyone who presses the green button. Everyone who presses the green button gets a crisp 1 dollar bill
congratulations, red voters, you impotent, psychopathic freaks, you successfully failed to kill anyone
congratulations, blue voters, you bleeding-heart numbskulls, you killed green. that’s 30 percent of the population, dumbasses
congratulations, green voters—you gambling-addicted, greedy, grubby pigs—on getting a whole “crisp dollar bill” and on being dead. i hope it was worth it
shame, too… if green had won you all could have survived, with no blood on your hands; plus, i was going to give humanity the cure for cancer. oh well... watcha gonna do
