More Tears Of Gold Au developmeeeeeents
ok, so, I have a king Avery design! Sorry it looks a little funky, I’ll do a proper, coloured drawing later- I just needed to get this stuff down before I forget!
first off, official name for the combined King/Avery is now King Aureolin or just Aureolin based on the context. Aureolin is a shade of yellow that begins with an A, (pronounced Aw-ree-oh-lin), I got the idea off of moonflowero1 (who suggested it under my other post!)
now! Quick explanation for Avery’s very different appearance (expanded upon from the little note I made)
when the king merges with a vessel, the sudden and overwhelming pressure on the vessels mind and body is extraordinary, if the vessel did not have a clean enough mind it would simply destroy them altogether (though in any ordinary case this would not kill the king), in the rare case they do have a clean mind, like Avery, they can take it- but only for so long, as over time their body distorts and deteriorates (the king does not bother with basics like food or sleep as it doesn’t really affect him, which contributes to the physical decay)
The vessel, now burning waaaaay too many calories a second to survive normally, is in a permanently extremely thin state, unable to build muscle and not even receiving the food needed to gain weight. In a lot of cases it also blinds the vessel, the king does not need eyes to see. The pressure on the vessel’s head so bad they are permanently crying. The only reason they are able to live even a century is because of the king’s powers of preservation.
He uses the body more like a puppet than a container, like he’s lifting their limbs with force of will rather than strength, which is why he can let them decay.
Other physical distortions also occur. The features changed is different depending on the person and the way they were possessed, so Avery in real life now has the biology of a slime (possessed through minecraft, now has minecraft skin- excluding clothes as that isn’t actually apart of his body), sharp teeth, (large, sharp teeth- Avery can no longer fully close his mouth), something vessels of the king commonly get (in reference to the byakhee, which I will expand upon outside of this au later), Avery has elvish ears, hearing more than he should (lore will be revealed with Avery’s background)
He also has feathers and really small wings hidden under his clothes on his torso, they’re pretty useless and gotten from the kings usual appearance, the king couldn’t be bothered to specialise the clothes to accommodate them so he just keeps them tucked close to Avery underneath the robes (A very poor way of saying I-forgot-to-draw-them-and-now-I’m-making-reasons-to-explain-why)
He also has a very long, very bendy neck, like, owl neck kind of. Reason why? Because he doesn’t have pupils it’s often hard to tell when he’s looking at you, the king likes this fact but sometimes he thinks looking at someone closely and obviously can be unnerving or threatening so he compromised by giving Avery the ability to twist his neck almost further than 180 degrees (the longer neck was given to him naturally by the merge though), just so he can scare any who have the audacity to stand up to him without much effort.
floaty hair as a permanent effect given by the king’s general presence, also I think it looks awesome on Avery for some reason. It’s also much longer than it used to be.
If The King and Avery ever separated, two of these things would be taken fully from Avery, 1. floaty hair, because that is caused by the kings presence (it would still be longer though),
2. slime biology, because the only reason he has that is the fact the ritual happened through minecraft, this part is entirely attached to the king’s presence as well and is not a natural change.
Derek finds Avery’s appearance off, due to his very poor remaining memories he doesn’t really know why, he just knows it’s unnerving and wrong, he grows used to it but he never quite likes it.
This merge also (obviously) has mental effects on Avery. (And the king, but I’m still figuring those parts out),
Avery now also has access to infinite knowledge as a start, but rather than it all flooding his mind like it did for Derek, it is more like a mental search engine- given that Avery doesn’t have infinite knowledge himself but is instead accessing part of the king’s mind whenever he searches for information he doesn’t actually have. However, whatever information he gains sticks to his mind and stays there until he gains so much information literally can’t hold it anymore, so he tries to avoid looking things up if he can.
It is also terrible to watch as the king governs the world he once lived amongst with an iron fist, and treats Derek like some plaything to be destroyed and rebuilt over and over again until the damage is permanent.
He is driven quickly to the brink when he first merges with the king, regains his wits when he finally adjusts to having such an overwhelming being in his mind, only to be kicked while he’s down when he sees all the terror and destruction he has inadvertently caused. He isn’t having a fun time and it shows, learning to live like a literal puppet in a body much to weak to be doing what the king wants it to is literal hell as well. Thankfully, when he finally learns how to communicate with the king mentally he may be able to negotiate, we’ll see.
Anywayyyys that’s all I’ve got for now, as I said, I’ll do a coloured version (hood up and down) later and I might show off my 2 forms for TKIY & my D3rlord design + my human Avery (Derek’s still a work in progress unfortunately)
That’s all to come though, for now this is all I’ve got - ideas and critique welcome as long as your polite, bu-bye!
