(SPOILERS BTW) How’d you think Claude would react to finding his s/o (or byleth wtvr you prefer) standing in dimitri’s old room after the battle, and crying?”

SPOILERS FOR CHAP 17 GOLDEN DEER ROUTE

claude has a habit of checking on you after battles. usually, you would come and seek him out first, grabbing his cheeks and inspecting him for any sign of a more serious injury. he pouts a bit when he doesn’t see you, but refuses to let his mind wander to the worst. you were strong and he knew it.

that is until he sees hilda dragging you along, your footsteps heavy as she leads you back to regroup with everyone else. instantly, an alarm goes off in his head, something is wrong, usually it was you tugging hilda along, not the other way around. his suspicions are confirmed when he sees your face up close, eyes unfocused and staring ahead at nothing, mouth set in a thin line. claude knew you by now, knew how to read your emotions like a book, he could tell you were so close to breaking.

hilda tells him what happened, that you were trying to see if the remaining few blue lions left had any chance of joining on your side – you hated the thought of having to kill your students. felix and dedue were nowhere to be found, but dimitri? he was limping along like a man possessed after edelgard. nothing stopped him until he was surrounded and overwhelmed by the enemy. you almost let out a cry had it not been for hilda covering your mouth, making sure the both of you weren’t spotted. claude is watching you as hilda tells the gruesome tale, he swears he sees you flinch when she mentions him dying. 

the ride back to garreg mach is abnormally quiet, at least for claude. he even tries to get you to fly back with him on his wyvern, to which you politely decline, and go back to walking beside sylvain’s horse in silence. 

you seem to disappear once the both of you get back to garreg mach. claude gives you a bit to be by yourself but then realizes that maybe he should check on you. he doesn’t want you to isolate yourself again like you did when your father died, so he seeks you out, checking all your usual spots. not in the library, the balcony on the third floor, or even in your room. it’s not until ignatz pulls claude aside and tells him he saw you walking towards dimitri’s room that he realizes. he thanks ignatz, and sprints off to find you.

claude had seen you cry once, but only the aftermath of it, when your eyes were red and watery, but you were doing your best to compose yourself for him. this was new. he wasn’t sure how to react, if he should even interrupt this private moment of you on the floor, clutching one of dimitri’s old capes and sobbing. his heart shatters at the quiet whimpers and hiccups you let out.

he walks in slowly and sits beside you, holding his arms out in case you needed someone right now. you accept his offer, and he pulls you into his strong arms, you burrowing into the crook of his neck as you sob. with claude you didn’t have to put those walls up, pretend to be stoic and perfect, you could allow yourself to be vulnerable, just like he could be around you. claude strokes your hair as he sits there quietly, letting you vent for as long as you need, until finally you still in his arms. 

   “you know it’s not your fault, teach… what happened was tragic but… we couldn’t have stopped it.” he stops, feeling your chest rising and falling evenly. he chuckles to himself, realizing that you had exhausted yourself. claude doesn’t want to move. you have enough trouble falling asleep as is, if he woke you now you’d never get back to sleep. so, he sighs, and pulls off his gloves, resigning himself to sleeping back against dimitri’s bed, you asleep in his arms. “…you’re really somethin’ else. i know there’s going to be more bad days ahead, but i think i can get through them easy with you by my side.”

   he’s glad you’re not awake so you can’t comment on his racing heartbeat. claude pulls you closer to his chest and leans back, whispering one last thing before his eyes flutter shut: “i could’ve easily been in dimitri’s place had you not chosen me… so again, i want to thank you.”

Muriel was always one of my favourite characters and I’m glad that’s my opinion until the end.

so i like to listen to different star wars ambient noise videos while writing fanfic. i’ll usually look up which planet i’m currently writing about or try and find one similar to the environment, but not always. here’s a few of my favorites, hope this helps! :)

Cassian Andor is a good man. Okay, that might be a bit of a stretch, but whatever he has done in this life, whatever he did in his last life, whatever he will do in his next life, he certainly doesn’t deserve this.

“Jyn, I can’t-”

“You can!” she says, and she turns, pointing a finger at him. 

He doesn’t fear a lot in his life, but Jyn pointing a finger at him like it’s a blaster, or worse, a truncheon… he might be a little afraid… and a little turned on.

They’re standing on the edge of a cliff, water underneath them, and yeah, he’s afraid. If this were a mission, and it was be taken by troopers or jump off the cliff into possible death, he would jump without a pause, but this? Doing it for fun?

He suddenly might have a fear of heights.

“Jyn, I can’t-”

“Bodhi jumped! Luke jumped! Leia jumped! Shara jumped! Even Kes, who’s afraid that the cleaner droids might actually polish his boots, jumped! Everyone has jumped except for us.”

He gets that, understands that, can hear them all laughing and splashing below, but…

“Take my hand.”

He does it without thinking, grabs her hand and clings to it, and she pulls him close, so their noses almost touch. He can feel her legs, her feet, their bodies pressing together, and he opens his eyes, suddenly, realizing he had shut them. She’s looking right at him, concern in her eyes, and he gulps.

“If you really don’t want to jump, then we’ll walk down the way we came up, and get in down there, okay?”

He nods, and then looks over the edge, hand tightening on hers. He can do this. He knows he can do this. In truth, he’s not even sure why he’s afraid.

He doesn’t let go of her hand, doesn’t think, just takes the two steps and jumps over the edge, pulling Jyn with him. Fear passes through him, and then exhilliration, and then - 

They hit the water with a splash, the icy cold running through him, and he holds on, doesn’t let go as they both kick their legs, pushing their way back up to the surface.

They break the water together, obviously, and then he looks at her, grinning. Jyn looks at him, eyes wide, and then they burst into laughter together.

“Not afraid anymore?” she asks, and he shakes his head, kicking his legs to move closer to her. He can’t really grab at her and hold her close, the two of them actively having to work to keep themselves afloat, but their noses brush, both of them still smiling.

“No, that was…”

She gives him a kiss, a quick peck, and he pecks her back. It’s small, and this is still new, but she tastes good, tastes like-

“Can you two quit making out already?” comes a call from near the shore, and they look to see Han, who was definitely too chicken shit to jump in. Whether it was because that meant stripping down to his underlayers or he was afraid of the water, no one was sure, but he had claimed he couldn’t leave Chewie behind, who refused to get in because his fur was already clean.

“Kark you, Solo!” Jyn called, and Cassian nods, because yeah, that sounds right.

His lips brush against her temple, and Jyn turns her head back towards him, their legs brushing under the water. He kisses her again and she giggles, giggles against his lips, causing Cassian to laugh as well.

No fear. Only exhilaration.

“Wanna go again?”

Okay, maybe a little fear.
