There truly is no suffering like falling deeply, deeply in love with a strange and beautiful game from nearly 20 years ago with almost no fanart, fics, or online presence. I am manifesting it all.

Man, it's been all OC posting here which I know gets no traction, but nothing fandom related has inspired me in foreveeeeerrr, so here we are. Anyway, it's nice to work on shit that I'm doing just because I love it, so there's that.

Just some OC doodles lately to stave off creative block. My two darlings, both from Cyberpunk tabletops, but of VERY different types. One of these days I'll have to draw them interacting. Rhys is such a sweetie deep down (not even that deep down tbh it's pretty close to the surface), and I bet Shae would see through his sarcastic-tough-guy surface level shit in no time.

Finally finished this one of my boy Rhys (who is really going through it atm)- largely focusing on playing around with color because I do not like my rendering style. Pretty happy with how this turned out though! Side note, the text is in reference to the song I Can't Give Everything Away, the final track on David Bowie's final album, Blackstar.

Anyway, this one is actually for a fellow player in my Cyberpunk Red game- Nyxie here is not only our badass Rockergirl, but also the object of my boy Rhys' affections (he is reaching so, so, so far out of his league and he knows it, the poor lad), so I obviously had to draw her. Plus, I'm always 100% ready to whip out that CMYK color palette.

I'm super pleased with how the lineart for this one turned out, even though I'm still experiencing angst about my rendering (it is SO, SO INEFFICIENT for what I personally feel isn't a nice enough payoff, ugh), so I decided to show that off too~

So I did this super fun little exercise to try redesigning my current Cyberpunk Red character as a DnD character. Honestly the most fun and engaging part of this was re-contextualizing what I consider the most "essential" parts of the character and considering what a rough equivalent would be in a wildly different setting. I may do this for another character or two of mine- even though this took me like three weeks of squeezing in an hour or two of work on it at a time between work and life and everything. Man I'm really on a Rhys kick. You can tell I'm burned out and struggling bc all I can actually get done is OC stuff and it still takes me forever.

Anyway, it was really fun to try this out and really push myself to think about why Rhys styles and presents himself a certain way. I think that's really how I like to think about character design in general- the intersection of all the choices a person makes about their appearance, vs. the things that are far more difficult to change.

(Omg I'm literally only noticing at this EXACT MOMENT that they both wear plaid in complimentary colors what is WRONG with me)

Just realized I forgot to post my last piece from artfight this year! I'm really happy with how many attacks I managed to fit in this year, though I'm bummed there were one or two people at the end there who I didn't get to revenge because of how wild this summer was for me. But hey, I'm happy with the work I did, and I'm already excited for the next one :3
