"I caught a fish..." don't ask him how, he's not sure how he managed to do it himself. larry sighs thoughtfully as he recalls the spectacle. "I didn't think that they would be biting, you know... with the beach being so noisy and all... figured I could pick up a rod and tune it all out for a little while. but somehow, even the fish kept me busy..."

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT BEFORE. LARRY CAN DO ANYTHING. he doesn't want to do a damn thing. but he could.
quite frankly, larry isn't sure he and his core strength are even acquainted these days, but marlon snags his attention with the possibility of a free lunch, hook line and sinker.
he steps awkwardly out of the crowd, mumbling through his half-hearted challenge so softly he is scarcely heard over the whooping and hollering, "well, I haven't got anything to lose... aside from my dignity..."
Oh, finally, what looks like an easy challenger. Surely Marlon can outlast this guy in a handstand?
"Hey there, pops! Youâve got guts! I accept your challenge!" Marlon replies, looking surprisingly upbeat considering his three losses in a row. He feels it in his gut; his luck is about to change.
Someone in the background counts down... 3... 2... 1.... Go!
Marlon kicks up into a handstand, his body perfectly aligned. He manages to hold the position for a few seconds, engaging his core and pressing down against the floor to maintain his stability. In his peripheral vision, he catches sight of Larry falling into a shaky handstand. Sweet, he's got this one in the bagâ
Suddenly, a violent spasm strikes his left calf, causing the muscle to knot into an excruciatingly tight ball. A sharp, searing pain radiates from the cramping muscle, preventing him from keeping his leg straight and causing his posture to falter. Marlon crashes down HARD, so much that the crowd suddenly falls into silence.
It's not until he sits up, immediately grabbing his cramped calf and trying to stretch it, that the crowd erupts into a deafening roar over Larry's victory.
It looks like SeĂąor Larry will get to eat Krabby's Krab Cakes after all!

dendra's sweaty face falls with disappointment, but only for a moment.
"...alriiiiiight, if you're sure, mister larry! tuli's gonna be a bit disappointed that you didn't bail her out, but I'll try to cover for you this time, 'kay?" the peppy instructor sing-songs, hand on her hip as she turns heel back towards the courts. "enjoy your recharge, but you're in for the next one--there's no way I'm gonna let you get away with warming the bench for another whole beach day!"
yep, she's already decided--and when dendra gets into this headspace, it's best to hope for these half-compromises! she bounces on the balls of her feet, shooting a grin down at larry's reclined figure. "...remember, mister larry--an active body is a happy body!! osu, osu!! hey, wait for me, I'm playing next to tuli--!!"
and just like that, dendra's off like a flash, moving like an orthworm through the sands, leaving larry to his precious few moments of remaining peace. sweet catnap dreams, my friend...
yeah, yeah... he'll be in for the next one, alright. larry will be sure to stick to the memo this time, to work his appointment for the game into his jam-packed schedule of napping, snacking and otherwise remaining invisible.
he waves quietly as she goes, strangely confident that the game won't stretch on much longer. just look at them, sweaty and burned and surely exhausted, he notes. the sun has been beating down on everyone for hours already... really, he's being smart here, conserving his precious energy for the herculean task of merely existing beneath the sun's blaze.
still... this is nice, he thinks as he peers through his cracked lids at the sandy field, catching a glimpse of the first serve before he stretches languidly and situates his hands comfortably beneath his head, and promptly dozes off to the sounds of the ocean waves and the passing of the ball.

â stay still, unc'. â strelitzia clicks her tongue with a hint of frustration, bottle of mascara clutched in hand. if he had to go to the concert in full suit, fine. but DAMN IT, he'd have at least a minimum of flare.

oh yeah... the playlist. he had listened to it during his lunch break, and the blaring from his phone in the middle of the treasure eatery had gotten him more than enough attention for one lifetime, actually.
"uh, right..." he hasn't really stopped wondering what he's gotten himself into ever since then, but it would be too much of a hassle to try and back out or change their plans now. now that he has mascara and eyeliner on his face. oh well. at least in a crowd, and with strelitzia's planning, he can more easily blend in and go unnoticed... probably.
"don't mention it," he doesn't say so, but it is nice to be included, even when he doesn't get it. and if they weren't family, larry is almost positive there would be no room for someone like him in a place like that. good grief... he is so out of place already. he scratches the back of his head awkwardly.
"I uh, have a pink tie if it helps..." doubtful, he knows, but it's something.
looks down at his empty hands. moves the earth with his sigh. and after spending an hour waiting in the krabby's crab cake line, too!
