Starting deep space nine and watching Jake and Nog after multiple seasons of Wesley is so weird cause Jake and Nog just seem so… normal in comparison. Like the bar for normal in this situation is on the floor the bar is just “have one friend your own age” and “don’t nearly die on a weekly basis” and “don’t get stabbed through the chest by a bayonet, actually die, and then get brought back to life one time”. I mean I’m only on season 1 I’m sure there’s plenty of time to put these kids through hell but so far their little adventures are just so far away from the child labour they had Wesley doing that it’s actually kind of jarring
