I feel like I keep becoming invested in the wrong parts of star trek. Like why do you mean my favourite part of the next generation (just started s5) has been the criminally under-explored dynamic between Beverly and Wesley Crusher?
They’re parent and child but they act more like coworkers most of the time, because they are also coworkers. They were separated for a year when he was just 16. She slaps him once because of Weird Alien Mind Stuff. He made her disappear one time and thinks he might have killed her for a bit. None of this is ever seriously addressed outside of brief moments and one episode after they’re reunited which is mostly about convincing us that they’re both doing fine, actually. They live in the same quarters but they have to plan dinners together and the one time we see them have dinner together they’re both still sitting in their starfleet uniforms. They are the only family they each have left but starfleet and their commitment to it will always come before their commitment to each other

I think it'd be funny if Nancy tried to flush Jonathan's "weed" but didn't realize that he'd been out for a while and didn't have enough experience with/knowledge of weed to recognize it, so she's flushing, like, a bag of oregano that Mike got scammed into buying and was too embarrassed to say anything about.
