as long as I'm gushing about recent horror movies, something I REALLY respect about Backrooms is how completely untethered (for the most part) it feels from all the internet "lore" or whatever. I really feel like this is a movie that would work equally well in a universe where "the backrooms" weren't a meme or whatever.
