Then someone reblogged it and said those are called "liminal spaces," defining liminal as in-between, neither one thing nor another.

Predates the 2020 spike in interest by four years

Predates the original backrooms post, and the the creation of r/liminalspaces by three years

Predates the earliest mention that KnowYourMeme attributes to Twitter by two years

I'm pretty sure this is the moment the term "liminal spaces" was attached to this sort of imagery, and it's TEN YEARS OLD TOMORROW!

1. It goes against the book, which constantly describe him as "pale". This goes agaisnt their claim of making it according to the book.

2. The amount of jokes that they are making about Severus Snape based on the look alone made everyone (ignorant of his story or not) disrespect the character, undermining the depth of his story. And I seriously hate every single one of them.

3. This is either an effort to give his back story a different meaning entirely, or giving the bully of the Marauders a different meaning entirely. Or worse, trying to make sense of the bullying and turn it in the Marauder's favor. Then call it canon.

4. I am a fan of Alan Rickman's portray of Severus Snape. And this version is just unacceptable. Everyone else got accurate cast. But the one with a depth in his backstory, whose death caused a huge impact in the story, was the only one changed.

5. This might be a plot to cause the original Snape fan go turn against their favourite character (in the new series), then call them racist for it, which is not true.

It might be just me. But I hate it.

Let's just say he will be movie accurate Snape in my fanfic. I will never accept this version, nor will that look ever appear in my fanfic.

I love Severus with my whole being, and the series is just insulting to his image.
