the joplin one was the mile wide one i was talking about !! there was a huge scar left on the land here for the longest time
theres actually a documentary on it if youre still interested, though im not sure if it would be available in your region
it actually talks about the fungal infection some of the survivors had, not a lot of people know about that
yeah ! i had the video on it by june first on youtube in my recommendations and thats how i ended up on the topic of tornadoes. the second i realized the land had that huge scar from the tornadoes path was horrifying i really cant imagine the strength needed to do something like that. also yeah ill go see if i can find a documentary on it around, the infection was mentioned in the video and that genuinely felt like salt in the wound for a town that already went through such a harrowing experience. i really have to admire the resilience of the people of tornado alley
the gunpowder one does sound interesting but doesnt the smell of sulfur kind of suck by nature? is it actually any good combined with ginger?
ill post my reviews of the zoologist perfumes when they get here but also i usually smell like a combination of axe body spray, diesel and clutch dust so i think smelling like a portuguese man o war would be an improvement
the year i got into meteorology as a kid was the year a tornado nearly hit my school. it was like 10am but the sky was pitch black and then suddenly turned green. anyways i was terrified of storms for years but i also still watch videos about tornados.
i think being terrified of storms after that is completely understandable like what do you mean it was green in there. scary
the tornado that hit the town where i live in 2011 was a mile wide, it was pretty much a once in a lifetime experience but stuff like that absolutely does happen
it definitely does, ive been watching storm chaser videos and ones discussing the destruction and aftermath of them today. watched a video on the one that hit joplin that year and hearing about the sustained injuries and casualties was very disquieting. it sounds like a genuinely horrifying situation to find yourself in
las vegas is kind of weird tbh
how do you have a big city in a desert and its main draw is getting people to lose money and also theres the orb
and the airport sucks shit
and the airport sucks shit
the airport in question. EVERY concourse has one of these in the middle. did you come in at midnight and thought you could have a nap during your eight hour layover? lol. lmao, even.

waow...
friend told me about some guy they met and im pretty sure i met that guy in a dream once
how did people live with tornadoes before reinforced infrastructure ? like id imagine people have been living in tornado alley for thousands of years how did they manage to deal with that shit ?
if you were there did you just look at the sky going dark and look to your buds n go "sky looks fucked boys lets bounce" and hope that you dont get your arms ripped off by 250 mph winds ?
I looked at r/askhistorian and it seems like like mostly the same way we deal with them today if there's no reinforced shelter nearby which is laying down in a ditch to hide from shrapnel and hoping it doesn't go over you.
Along with not settling or traveling where and when they're common and prayers.
that seems like a pretty reasonable answer
id like to contribute that while tornadoes are a serious threat in tornado alley, the actual chances of being struck by one is extremely rare. the average tornado's width is only about 50 meters, in a possible spawning area the size of Europe. given pre-colonial tornado alley was even more sparsely populated, i suspect it didn't really become as much of an issue until we started building thousands of permanent settlements and urban sprawl. even today, the majority of tornadoes rip through fields and maybe 1-2 farmhouses if you're unlucky since tornado alley is so rural
im always surprised by just how large the states are. yeah i guess in an area that large that has a few human settlements but not like modern town or city sized ones probably would have managed to avoid them unless they were really unlucky

i ordered a few samples from zoologist perfumes because i see them get mentioned online sometimes and i think these are fascinating. plus id love to have a weird smell attached to me that isnt diesel. the one im most interested in is the portuguese man o war one. i think the ginger seaweed and gunpowder sounds fun
i shouldnt smell like a truck engine i should smell like the squit
