They get to talking, sure, but it doesn't last long before Buck's phone is pinging with an urgent text.

"Shit. My babysitter just had to cancel, and I have a shift in a few hours. I don't know if I'll be able to find someone on such short notice."

"I could do it."

"What?? Tommy, I can't ask you to do that."

"You didn't."

"But we haven't seen each other in over a year, and-"

"If you don't feel comfortable, I get it. You have to go home anyways to get ready for work, right? If you need me to come watch Theo, call me. If not, I won't take it personal, and maybe we can catch up some other time, ok?"

But Buck doesn't even try to find someone else. He knows he trusts Tommy, that was never even a question. He just didn't want to be the one always taking, always needing, especially after so long.

He gets Theo home and ready for bed before calling Tommy to ask if he'd mind staying with Theo overnight.

And Tommy...Tommy just keeps offering any time Buck needs it. At first that's all it is, a hand with watching Theo, but then it turns into movie nights, pizza and trips to the zoo.

Buck keeps mentioning the "babysitter", and everyone keeps teasing him not to "make a move" or try to "pick them up."
