billystritch: Well, that’s a wrap on this year’s Tony Awards after party at the Carlyle. First of all, I must thank Rick Miramontez for inviting Jim Caruso, Steve Doyle and me to be part of the fun year after year (I believe this might have been our 10th or 11th). There were lots of celebrity sightings (Lorne Michaels, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Brian Stokes Mitchell and more) and I managed to grab a few selfies along the way. Big thanks to Dez Duron, Darren Criss and Adrienne Warren for taking the mic and singing last night - it was a big thrill to accompany these mega-talents and to provide the music for the evening. It is truly the party of the year! Congratulations to all the winners and nominees!

For many, the celebration also came with a sense of relief: Daniel Radcliffe, nominated for his one-man marathon in the play “Every Brilliant Thing,” and Darren Criss, a winner last year, both said they were grateful to be able to sit back and watch rather than perform. ---------- Around 2:30 a.m., Criss took the mic at the bar to sing an improvised number, accompanied by the pianist Billy Stritch. “Happy Tonys, everybody!” he said. As another performer started in on Billie Holiday’s “All of Me,” he and his wife, Mia Criss, embraced and swayed to the music.
