Then, in the summer of ‘86, they hopped in Billy’s Camaro and drove to the golden state, straight to the coast; blasting Iron Maiden, Metallica, and every other heavy metal cassette they could jam in there on the trip down. When they finally got to the beach, Billy got right to teaching Eddie how to swim in the ocean—and even how to surf.

Billy: The what?

“Jonathan was abused too, but he never hurt Will or anyone else.”

WAS. Keyword was abused. Past tense. He got lucky with a mom who took the kids with her when she left her abusive ex husband. Any toxic behaviors that he may have developed from living in that environment, he got to unlearn and grow out of them. He got to get better because he left his abusive household. Jonathan’s abuse from Lonnie ended long before the start of the first season.

Billy is still living with his abuser and still actively being abused by his father when he is introduced to us in the show. His abuse isn’t past tense, it’s still actively happening to him. His mother abandoned him when she left Neil, leaving him to fend for himself under his father’s abuse. If you genuinely expect a child or teen who has known nothing but a lifetime of violence, abuse, and abandonment to act like a harmless saint all the fucking time without picking up a single bad behavior while they are still being abused in their toxic environment, you are dumber than you look. I thought it was common knowledge that the longer you’re stuck in an abusive environment, the worse it affects you so i don’t know why these motherfuckers are acting surprised Billy was a toxic abusive person by the time he’s introduced to us in the show. I swear these bitches be crucifying the fucker like he was born inherently evil. For fuck’s sake, he is not even the worst person in his own show.

If there is a burn victim in an actively burning building, it doesn’t make sense to treat their burn wounds while they’re still in said burning building. You have to take them out of the place that is hurting them and then treat their wounds in a new safer environment so that they can actually heal properly and get better.

Before Billy could be redeemed for his mistakes and wrongdoings, he needed to be saved first. But he never got to be a survivor like Jonathan. He died a victim of his circumstances who unfortunately learned to take his pain out of others due to how he was being raised by his own abuser. Him being an abused turned abuser doesn’t make him any less worthy of being saved. A victim of abuse should not have to be “likable” in order to be deserving of being saved. I guess the saying “the only perfect victim is a dead one” isnt even true either, when you don’t even extend your empathy to the “unlikable” victims like Billy. Then all of a sudden he was nothing more than a one dimensional POS who people already decided was “unredeemable” and deserved to die, which sends a bad message the real Billy’s of the world who are still actively being raised in dangerous homes by abusive people.

Billy was the ugly truth of the kind of real domino effect that the cycle of abuse can have on people and the antis hated him for it, because he wasn’t a distinctly all good or all bad character like everyone else in this fuck ass show with dog shit writing from the suffer brothers.
