Loud music and hellish shenanigangs

"[The episode begins with a depiction of the universe, where Heaven lies in the sky with its golden gates shining. The narrator, Charlie Morningstar, tells a story of how entities called angels made the universe.]"

The angels did what? And what about God? Let's see. You can create a fictional world ruled by angels without any god. But that's not confirmed. Which would mean that it is indeed an interpretation of Judeo-Christian mythology. (Considering, moreover, other evidence that it is indeed an interpretation of Judeo-Christian mythology). And what is an interpretation of Christianity without God? Please. How are angels going to create the world as we know it if it's a Judeo-Christian interpretation? It's throwing the most basic tenets of Judeo-Christian mythology out the window. I'm going to get tired of saying Judeo-Christian.

First major issue: Atheistic Judeo-Christian mythology (I never imagined I'd use that term).

"Charlie Morningstar: [voiceover] Once upon a time, there was a glowing city protected by golden gates known as Heaven. It was ruled by beings of pure light, Angels that worshiped good and shielded all from evil."

“Worshipped good.” There’s definitely not a single god here. Protecting everything from evil? Is evil some kind of infection or entity? That’s a very interesting concept, but it doesn’t reappear after this My Little Pony-esque story.

"[As the narration goes on, the images show the silhouette of her father, Lucifer Morningstar, making fireworks, which draws the ire of the angels for his behavior.]"

Here they did get it right by adding Lucifer, which would relieve some of the audience who were tremendously shocked to hear the infamous "worshipped good".

"Charlie Morningstar: [voiceover] Lucifer was one of these angels. He was a dreamer with fantastical ideas for All of creation. But he was seen as a troublemaker by the elders of Heaven. For they felt his way of thinking was dangerous to the order of their world. So, he watched as the angels began to expand the universe in their ways. From the dust of Earth, they created Adam and Lilith, equals as the first of mankind."

Okay, okay. A lot of information at once. We'll have to break it down.

"Lucifer had fantastical ideas." What ideas? Giving the cow a third eye? "He was a dreamer." And what the hell did he dream about? Unicorns? Clearly, they ran out of ideas.

Major flaw: Lucifer's dreams. Also, the fact that Lilith appears. That means the story is Jewish mythology. Lilith comes from a truly obscure medieval text and was adopted by some Jewish groups, but for Christians, she never existed.

"[The angels then created a planet called Earth, where they produced the first humans, Adam and Lilith.]"

"Charlie Morningstar: [voiceover] But, despite this, Adam demanded control, and Lilith refused to submit to his will. She fled the Garden. Drawn in by her fierce independence, Lucifer found her, and the two rebellious dreamers fell deeply in love."

They borrowed a bit from Jewish feminists here. In case you didn't know, they claim that Lilith fled Eden because Adam was too bossy. Also, the part about them falling in love. How could Lucifer have reached her if he was supposedly stuck in Heaven because of his lack of caution?

"[Lilith rejects Adam and flees, where she meets Lucifer and falls in love.]"

"Charlie Morningstar: [voiceover] Together, they wished to share the magic of free will with humanity, offering the Fruit of Knowledge to Adam's new bride, Eve, who gladly accepted."

"[They came to Adam's new bride, Eve, to offer her an apple from a tree to bring free will to humanity.]"

What do you mean, free will? The first humans, according to the Bible, had free will, but they were completely amoral. When they both ate the fruit, they formed their morality, and if they acted wrongly, it was because they didn't follow their standards, from which sin was born (in addition to the sin of eating a fruit against God's will). Of course, with an entity like evil personified, it didn't make much sense. And this leads me to question the existence of "Roo" (as she's supposedly called) in general. Because let's see, if introducing a feature into your world that then becomes irrelevant alters an existing mythology, then you should tone it down a bit. It's also not specified whether Adam also ate the fruit, nor is it known whether Eve was tempted or simply gave it to him. Eve initially refused to eat the fruit, according to the Bible. The image of the serpent is also absent. In short, this is more distorted than American food.

"[But the Earth was shattered by darkness unleashed by them. The angels banished Lucifer and Lilith from Heaven and Earth and into the depths of the black and dark realm now called Hell.]"

"Charlie Morningstar: [voiceover] But this gift came with a curse. For with this single act of disobedience, evil finally found its way into Earth. With it, a new realm of darkness and sin. And the order Heaven worked to maintain was shattered. As punishment for their reckless act, Heaven cast Lucifer and his love into the dark pit he had created, never allowing him to see the good that came from humanity, only the cruel and the wicked. Ashamed, Lucifer lost his will to dream."

Okay, this is accurate. I do like it. Lucifer rebelled, tempted Eve, and fell. Wait— In Judaism, the serpent isn't Lucifer or a diabolical figure, just a manipulative creature.

So, the world is Jewish because Lilith exists, but Christian because the serpent is Lucifer. What?!

"[While Lucifer stagnated, Lilith thrived and brought Hell to new heights, leading the angels to start the yearly Extermination as population control for the overpopulated demons and sinners.]"

"Charlie Morningstar: [voiceover] But Lilith thrived, empowering demonkind with her voice and songs. And as the numbers of Hell grew, so did its power. Threatened by this, Heaven made a truly heartless decision. That every year, they would send down an army, an Extermination, to ensure Hell and its sinners could never rise against them. But Lilith's hope remained. And her dream was passed down to their precious daughter, the Princess of Hell."

A lot of information. Let's break it down again. Lilith is considered the mother of all monsters. It's fitting that she created Hell as it's known in that world. "Heartless decision"—I know the narrator (Charlie) is very subjective, but come on, I don't know why it sounds so off. As for the exterminations, I'm very skeptical. I'm sorry, but the souls that go to Hell are supposed to be there forever. Why would Heaven itself kill them? Wouldn't that be breaking its own doctrines?

Also, does that mean that the future character (Sera) is a transgressor? Shouldn't she fall after "Welcome to Heaven"?

The story ends here, and I'm going to skip the entire transcript because it's irrelevant. Except for one line of dialogue.

"Charlie: Aah! Oh, shit. Did you hear all that?"

Look, the show is known for having even aristocratic or elegant characters who swear. A princess saying "shit" when she's caught talking to herself isn't exactly consistent.

Now, the next thing that comes up is a cheesy, low-budget ad. We notice that every time the camera shows a bit of the person filming, it glitches. And listen up, folks, this is SUPER IMPORTANT for some reason, bruh.

Basically, the guy mocks this idea so blatantly that I have no idea why he hasn't been fired. Anyway, this guy is Alastor, and his main role is: to mock the hotel as if he had the jester's privilege (spoiler: he does). He's been like this since the pilot, and yet, he helped improve the architecture and the building's condition. The problem? He wants to stay and watch it fail. He's fixated on the idea that sinners will never be redeemed, no matter how hard Charlie tries.

He's not as original as he seems because literally everyone thinks the same way he does; he just says it with more grandiosity.

The concept of the jester's privilege is very interesting. I imagine Al mocking a literal aristocrat without consequences because his role is that of the joker, like medieval jesters with royalty. The problem? It doesn't take hold, and he ends up as a bully who doesn't cooperate.

And a few things happen, and in the end, Charlie gets a call from her father, saying he has to go to a meeting with Heaven, but he doesn't feel like it and asks Charlie to take his place. She gets emotional and sings. And then she goes into "Heaven" (or whatever it is).

And here we have a character with a lot of potential, but who doesn't really make a difference.

Adam is supposedly the first man, but he doesn't act like one. He acts more like a teenager without parental supervision. If someone told me he was just a young angel named Adam, I'd believe it without a second thought. Oh, and he swears so badly it hurts. His personality irritates me; it's one of the most irritating thing about this series. What were the writers thinking? Lute is infinitely more mature than Adam and much younger. She's cold, calculating, and faces her enemies with composed anger. At least in the first season, before her mental state deteriorated.

Don't get me wrong, I understand Adam's sympathizers to a certain extent, but I just can't take him seriously because of his immaturity.

You could literally remove him and replace him with Lute and it would be exactly the same, except for the swearing. In fact, it would be much better if it was just Lute, you know, without those little phrases like "Call me dickmaster" from a thousands-year-old GROWN MAN.

Angel is a horndog. Come on, man. And despite his harassment, Vaggie doesn't do a thing. She just says "Stop being horny" and that's it. Charlie wouldn't be too happy if she saw that. It's just inconsistent for the show, a show about redemption.

Okay, let's jump to the scene where Vaggie is in that dark room with Al. Alastor acts edgier than a gore fan. "This face was made for radio," he says, and then he pulls a creepy face with visual snow around it—it's cringeworthy. In the pilot, these scenes actually made sense because they added creepy lines like, "If I wanted to hurt you, I would've done so already."

What have they done to him? Well, the thing is, the two of them make a pact: Alastor will cooperate in exchange for Vaggie never being involved in television again. Let's assume that's important, right? No way, you're in the Hellaverse.

(Oh, and also, Alastor literally states his goal, which is to see people fail in their attempt at redemption. Whatever happened to "Show don't tell"?)

Then this happens:

Childish drawings with stickmen.

I know this is for laughs. But this is supposed to be serious. This is supposed to be when Charlie pitches her idea to Heaven itself. No wonder Adam didn't take her seriously.

In the end, the exterminations are postponed for six months instead of a year because Adam wants her dead.

I'm going to skip everything until the grand finale because it's stating the obvious. In the end, a drone detects the headless corpse of an exorcist. The exterminators swear revenge but don't specify against whom. Furthermore… If they have such advanced technology to use camera drones, why do they only use spears for the exterminations? Why don't they investigate who murdered her, something like the police have done since their inception?

In short, this series already has some serious problems: a lack of specificity on "important" topics and inconsistencies. But this is just the tip of the iceberg.
