I was reading book 2 again and it makes me wonder, Is Imogen is too stupid to live on her own? It happens in every book, she needs Jaron to rescue her in the end? why? 🤦♂️
I just read the line that implies she was taking the road to Dichell instead of going off trail to keep herself out of sight of the pirates and even Jaron groaned realizing that though he gets way less irritated by her than he should. She thought she came to help Jaron but then made it worse than it was. Yes I get it she hid knives but they weren't even used against Devlin and she didn't even get to directly tell Jaron she hid them when she had the chance to be alone with him, really? Things could have been so much easier. Only useful thing was the pin and her putting stew on Devlin but I didn't think Devlin was going to kill Sage as Devlin didn't know he was Jaron then and wanted the treasure.
And in the end Imogen staying away from the safety of the castle because she loved Jaron??? When did they become that close? Anyway that was stupid too knowing there are people after you you chose to stay near the borders of your enemies. She is stupider than Jaron.
I shouldn't mention the poker incident like why the hell she would go to the orphans' room of all rooms after using the poker?? I know that room was thought to have no clues about that but she should have tried to avoid that room not lead them to it!!! I didn't mind this one much but think about what would have happened to Imogen if Jaron wasn't there in the room to help her but was in the tunnels as he was supposed to be ...
Think of what would have happened to her in book 5 if Jaron wasn't there to use that arrow on Mercy after her speech. Her grand plan really was to ask Wilta to make her queen and try to fool her by saying she will give a bad speech about Jaron and marry Castor? No villain in Wilta's place would have believed that. Imogen is lucky Wilta didn't force her to marry Castor for real and arrange the wedding first before declaring her queen. Think of what would have happened if that had happened. I rest my case. Imogen is really the stupidest character of the books.
Jaron is at least street smart and knows how to survive even if he makes reckless plans. Most of the times he was captured while he tried to save Imogen, not because of his plans!
Don't take this as a hate post I am just stating facts and my opinion on how I think she is in the books. Why did author write her like that? I think she likes the idea of Jaron rescuing helpless girls but it just makes Imogen a small shadow next to Jaron, does the author knows that?
