She had been stood up, which was equally frustrating as it was relieving. The only reason Elyse was out that evening was because she was working reconnaissance, her date being the target she was extracting information from. Rather than waste her time and a cute outfit the blonde had slipped away from the bar to find herself on the dance floor with someone far cuter than her intended date.
It didnβt take long for her to become entranced by both the music and the stranger she found herself wrapped around. Song after song they twined to the beat. That was up until her phone started blowing up.
At first she could ignore it, one phone call, maybe a text message and then it became a pattern. Call, text, call, text, until whomever was trying to contact her decided to call her on a continuous loop. The vibrations of these notifications were nearly lost to her as the bass shook the dance floor and all of those on it. What clued her in to the dire situation at hand was a mere coincidence. Looking across the dance floor Elyse would lock eyes with her date, their expression grim as they hung up their phone.
Panic gripped at her heart as she paled abruptly halting her movements as she put two and two together. βI-I gotta go.β Leaving the stranger on the dance floor Elyse would make it through the crowd towards her date who didnβt hesitate to snatch her wrist and drag her across the bar towards the exit.
βIβm sorry Lorenzo, I thought you stood me up.β
Silence.
Silence was never good.
Leaving the club was also not a good sign.
βHey, youβre hurting me, can you let go?!β Grip tightening the man continued to drag Elyse down the side walk and deep into an alleyway. The air around them was perfumed with the stench of fryer grease and days old garbage. Still he refused to speak his dark expression merely confirming the crime he was about to commit.
Thinking of survival the blonde screamed, which was quickly remedied by a hand forcefully placed over her open mouth. As if that were enough to bring her into submission. Biting into the meaty flesh of his palm, the woman attempted to run when her attacked reflexively let her go as he yowled. Unsuccessful Elyseβs body connected to the brick wall head first via the blunt force of a man twice her size slamming her into it.
Immediately her vision darkened. Pain bloomed across the back of her skull and spidered down into her extremities as she attempted to claw and scratch at the man who pinned her there. She couldnβt see him through the haze but she could estimate her strikes. βYou, belong to me.β His voice resounded in her head as an echo each pass of sound causing her head to throb more violently. Moaning sheβd try and fail to successfully hit him. Her wrists were caught and held tightly above her head as he leaned in, placing pressure on her ribcage with his free hand. She felt rather than heard the grotesque snapping of bone. The pain was severe, sharp, and the cry that she made was near animalistic. βYou will never, ever make me look like a fool like that again.β
Lorenzo was speaking but Elyse didnβt hear him. Tunneled somewhere deep inside her mind she retreated. Focusing instead on the rhythmic throb in her head, the way that breathing hurt. One of her last thoughts that surfaced before succumbing to the darkness was a simple plea to a deity she didnβt know she believed in. βI donβt want to die here.β
