I haven't been on tumbler in MONTHS. I broke down my old 15g planted tank (using it as a quarantine tank now) and started this 5.5g. It's been about two weeks so far. I'm iffy about it...sorta using it as a grow out for some plants as I try to figure out if I want to plant my 20g long.

Could you please stop recommending red cherry shrimps as betta tank mates please? they do way better in colder water and actually suffer in water that has the temperature a betta needs. of course they can live in it but it's not nice for them. But i don't want to be mean ok please this is just a friendly question. sorry for my english!

Is that true? Every resource I find says their range goes up to 80 degrees F and they’re widely kept with Betta by multiple hobbyists here.

I’m open to the idea certainly (there are PLENTY of supposed Betta tank mates that are actually bad, not doubting it), but could you source this information?

Their range does go up to 80 degrees, but it speeds up their metabolism and gives them a shorter lifespan. All the shrimp keepers I know keep them in the lower 70s.

My cherries are thriving in about 70 degrees right now. SO MANY BERRIED FEMALES! Yay.

Cherries, especially juveniles are usually just tasty snacks for Bettas. One of my Bettas absolutely demolished my established colony of at least 70 shrimp and I had to start over, only 15 with 5 berried females now.
