What is with ATP players and cultural appropriation?

Astounded to come back to tumblr and realise just how many people are sharing and accessing paparrazi pics of the people they claim to be fans of.

Haven't been posting because the new sex-testing WTA policy genuinely makes me ill every time I think about it but I thought this was important for me to say: I hope that everyone on tennisblr is not only posting about this on tennisblr but also on their other social media. Tumblr fandoms can have their share of transphobes, and it's important to make them feel unwelcome in fan spaces, but they are also completely cut off from any official tennis platforms. Make your disapproval known on their Instagram, their Twitter, and wherever else you can.

That missed match point on serve is haunting but I'm still happy for Karo :)

Coco's playing really nervy today.

They're making lists of WTA players who associate with or support problematic men on Twitter, meanwhile, every ATP player is begging for a chance to cuddle up to Zverev.

When Coco lost in Berlin, I thought here we go again but it's not a repeat of last year. We're breaking new ground! I'm so very proud.

Both Iga and Elena's losses today were utterly disheartening. I didn't think either would win the tournament nor am I surprised they both lost early, but how they lost is just...I am lost for words.

Some of you are much more concerned about misogyny on AO3 than the misogyny happening IRL to the tennis players you claim to stan and you should take a look at fixing that.

The way Iga is talking about her game is more concerning to me than any results she's had in the past. Last year, even though she was coming into Wimbledon after an underwhelming (by her standards!) clay season, she seemed to still be playing to win. This year, she seems defeated before she has even stepped on court. Like in any sport, being the "superior" player won't win you matches if you don't believe you can win. It is just extremely frustrating to me given that we all know what she can do.
