27 pls my crops are dying
Elphaba was messing with her bow tie when Glindaâs car showed up at the end of her driveway.
âDonât ruin the party too much!â Shell called as she hurried out the door. Elphaba made her way to the car, walking carefully so she wouldnât get dirt on her shoes. She avoided looking at Glindaâs side, not quite ready to see whatever expression she had.
But then she opened the door and slid inside, and she couldnât help but stare. Glindaâs dress was a deep, deep red. The straps sat low on her shoulders, exposing her collarbone, and flowers were laced into the skirt. Glinda shifted, tugging at it, but even sitting down she lookedâ
âYou lookâŠâ Elphaba couldnât even finish the sentence. Glinda blushed and put her car in reverse.
âI could say the same,â she said as they pulled out of Elphabaâs driveway. âItâs a good thing I had time to recover while you walked to the car.â
âDid I render you speechless?â Elphaba teased, recovering a little. Glinda smiled out the windshield.
âPretty much.â Glinda let her hand rest on the center console. Elphaba took it and intertwined their fingers. âI wishâŠâ
Glinda shook their hands a little. âItâs a shame we canât spend all night like this.â
âAre you sure about that?â Elphaba asked her, smiling a little. âJust take a random turn, weâll run away for the night.â
Glinda laughed softly. âI wish.â
âHey. Itâll be fine.â Elphaba lifted Glindaâs hand to kiss her fingers. âIâll behave, youâll be adored, and all will be well.â
âWe are both going to be bored out of our minds.â
âI wouldnât say that,â Elphaba argued. âI, at least, have this really cute girl to admire all night long.â
âOh, shut up.â But she was blushing, grinning wide. She glanced over at Elphaba, then hit her blinker and pulled onto the side of the road.
Glinda put her car in neutral and turned to face Elphaba. âWeâll be pretending all night, but thereâs no way I can be around you when youâre dressed like that and not do this at least once.â
âDo what?â Elphabaâs eyes danced.
Glinda cupped Elphabaâs face in her hands. âKiss me,â she whispered, bumping their foreheads together. âPlease?â
Elphaba smiled. âFor you, my sweet, anything.â
