Those Who Bring Ham

It's specifically to do with the overall tone and the voice acting. It's felt more like... "quirky" in a very deliberate way. Like they are trying to very hard portray their characters as fun and energetic.

Vows and Vengeance is very quippy. I get why they might make that choice. They're trying to introduce and tease the companion characters in the Veilguard in a memorable way, but it comes across as like... Everyone is cracking jokes literally all of the time and even serious moments aren't taken that seriously.

Serious scenes seem to sort of have an undertone of... Oh, bear with us, old so-and-so is having A Moment. You know what I mean? I'm maybe being a little bit vague, but it's hard to put into words.

It's been a while since I watched Absolution, but I remember feeling the same way, that it felt just a little more juvenile in its storytelling.
