You can look after his other son like he's your own and give him one less thing to worry about. You can drop out of high school to be more available for what he needs: a hunting partner, a drinking partner, a surrogate housewife-mother-caretaker. You can say those three littlebig words you can't say when you're both sober on the nights when he needs to hear it most, and you can pretend he isn't crying, isn't repeating those words over and over and over again to you.

You can take your clothes off and let him look at you while he jerks off, but you can never, ever let him touch you. There are many rules you follow because your father tells you to, and no matter what you want, his word is law.
