Gas flaring causes toxic emissions and hurts health of nearby residents. We need stricter natural gas regulations and carbon rules.

Natural gas flaring is basically another excuse for the oil and gas industry to avoid proper regulation and do whatever they want in order to make more money. Releasing dangerous toxins into the atmosphere via giant flames in the sky, flaring burns unwanted sour gas that is not economical for the the gas industry to capture. Unfortunately, it also endangers both human health and the health of the environment, causing headaches, and adding heaping greenhouse gas emissions to the sky, pushing the climate change train onward down the tracks.

Summer's good for A/C and vegging out on the couch, but getting outside & getting active makes you feel better, and reduces fossil fuel emissions.

We're working with communities in Pennsylvania to fight fracking.

I know you've got pictures of cats to look at on Tumblr. I know you're buzzed off spiked morning coffee like myself at 1:30 on a Monday (#postcollegegradlife). I know you're all multi-tasking among the France/Nigeria game, Buzzfeed, Spotify, and Snapchat (because I'm doing all those things, too). I know you may think we're doomed, that Climate Change is here to stay like the Lizard People (forreal doh, they're here), and that gay marriage and women's rights should just be a thing already. I know you're probably sick of environmentalism and the damn hippies like myself and all that bullshit about fracking and water contamination.

But I also know that if your community were impacted, you would be out there every day canvassing, writing, and doing everything you could to stop the destruction of your property, of your home. I know that if you were in an area under threat from fossil fuel extraction or a new housing development or any form of new industrialized infrastructure, you'd do anything you could to help out. The people we're fighting with are just like you. They have kids who play sports, they enjoy a drink every once in a while, and they care deeply about their land.

We're not asking for money to prove our worth, we're not fighting for acknowledgement or Nobel Peace Prizes or even those little things you blow on New Years that make that "pfffffthooo!" noise. We're asking for your help to shift our planet, your planet, to one that future generations, your children and ours, can rely on for survival. We're fighting for the little man, the underdog, the people's people. We're fighting for the farmlands, the great mountains, the ski slopes, the radical tubular waves brah, the birds and the bees, the woodlands, the bovines (that's a cow), the lizards, the groundhogs, the bears, the fish, the summer convertible wind in your hair that sometimes gets in your mouth and threatens to choke you (but really, can long-haired people feel me on that?)
