Oh. Hi.

You really don’t have to have a reason to block people beyond “seeing their content makes me feel bad and I’m not here to feel bad, I am here to have fun.”

The biggest thing we get wrong about the internet is this idea that blocking someone is a sign of weakness or irrationality.

Love Big.

Compliment often.

Expose the Greatness in everyone you meet.

Hold no unsaid expectations against anyone.

Forgive easily.

Tell the kid how cool their toy/picture/story/rock is-and watch the light flood their eyes.

If you hold anger against someone/if they said something that hurt you, talk about it in a healthy way.

When it comes to unsolicited wisdom, the very least you can do is listen and think about it, you don’t have to agree, but give yourself the option to learn and grow.

Purge bitterness from your bones, it makes you older faster and clogs your joints.

SMELL ALL THE CANDLES IN THE STORE; cake-scented candles never ruined anyone’s day.

Tell yourself one thing you love about yourself every day, to start, and more will follow: Toes, I love that you balance me; calves, I love that you’re strong; thighs, I love your power, etc.

Laughter is a healing balm.

Do not lie to yourself, acknowledge the power of you.

If you suffer, all you have to do is survive; AND THEN give yourself permission to thrive.

Do not be afraid to be extraordinary; in your craft, in your hugs, in your words.

This rat doesn’t know anything, but it knows that sometimes snacks fall into its cage, and sometimes the floor shocks its feet.  It likes the snacks, and it hates the shocks.  It will tell you to do things that produce snacks, and it will tell you not to do things that produce shocks.

This little rat is not the only power inside your head, and it might not be the strongest, but it’s there and it has influence.

So pay attention to how you’re treating the little rat.

If every time you learn something new, you say to yourself “ugh, I’m so ignorant for not already knowing this,” you’re shocking the rat.  You’re teaching it to be afraid of learning new things, to associate it with embarrassment and self-criticism.

Remember to feed the rat instead.  Tell it “now I know, and that is good,” and let it eat its snack in peace.

If every time you take care of yourself and your home, you say to yourself “ugh, I never do this enough, and I’ll never get it right,” you’re shocking the rat.  You’re teaching the rat that it was safer when you didn’t try to take care of things.

Feed the rat instead.  Praise what you have done, forgive what you haven’t, so the rat can feel safe.

When the rat takes a step in the right direction, even if the step is too small or slow or not in quite the right direction, feed it.  Don’t shock it for being imperfect; it’ll only learn not to take any steps at all.  Feed it, and let it get bolder, and take bigger steps, and give it bigger rewards for those bigger steps.

Both of them ARE different, but they both have their own merits and I don’t think people should be trying to determine which one is “better.”

Into the Spiderverse was a reminder that radioactive spiders don’t know who’s worthy, they don’t know who has potential, they don’t know who’s willing to volunteer, they’re just… spiders who happen to be radioactive. 

Which means, of course, that the Spider-people were ordinary. Random. Merely happened to be in the right place at the right time when the spiders wanted to bite someone. Their powers are a privileged none of them earned.

And then, though.

And then, each one of them, when they suffered, decided to do their very best to prevent anyone else from suffering. In each universe the same sad old story, the same pain. And then they get up, and they keep getting up, saving the world, just to spare other people their pain. That’s all. 

Because she’s not based on her teenage design.
