Help a witch out
I was wondering if there was anybody that new of safe magic practices for pregnant people. Whether it is spells, chants, sigils or anything. My sister just entered her second trimester and was hoping there was anything i can do to help her. She also suffers from really bad migraines but cant take what she usually does because of it. I am but a baby witch and still learning so any information is good information!! Thank you
First off, congratulations to your sister!
I’m mostly a green witch with eclectic tendencies, I don’t know what your practice is, but most of my spell work revolves around herbs and plants.
As you probably know, there are a bunch of herbs that should be avoided during pregnancys. A big one (and one that is often used in witchcraft) is Rosemary. When taken internally it increases blood pressure which is very bad for the child. Small doses are ok, like if you have some sprinkled in a pasta sauce, but large amounts (like medical amounts) should be avoided.
For her migranes (of which I also suffer), you can take Bay Leaves and place them to her forehead. Most of the time I will stick them in my hat band or in a bandana so I don’t have to walk around with my hand to my head all day. Fresh leaves are best, but you can use dried if that is all you have. Just a note on bay leaves, if she does not have a head ache, using the bay leaves will give her one. It’s just the duality of the plant. You can purchase dried bay leaves at the grocery store and are relatively inexpensive.
Now other then occasionally giving myself a headache when I forget to remove the bay leaf, I haven’t had any negative side effects and from what research I have done, their shouldn’t be any ill effects if used in this manner during pregnancys.
For helping with her pregnancy, you can make her a tea of Peppermint and Red Raspberry Leaves.
Peppermint is good for releaving nausea and will help with morning sickness if she is experiencing it. Raspberry leaves are high in iron, have benefits for uterus health, will decrease labor pains, and a bunch of other stuff. It shouldn’t be talking in the first trimester, but you said she is just entering the second one so it should be fine. Like with the bay leaves, fresh is best but dried is fine too.
I feel that I should point out that peppermint and raspberry leaves are likely safe. Working with herbs is not an exact science, and so far peppermint and raspberry leaves have been shown to be safe, but moderation is advised. If something feels wrong, stop immediately.
I’ve never done this personally as I have never been pregnant nor have any of my friends, but you can draw sigils on her stomach for health and protection.
Hope this helps, and congratulations again to your sister.
Thank you sooo much!
