The Airport by Jess (AKA the Chili’s fic)

This fic probably doesn’t need any sort of introduction, since it’s fandom legend, but justtttt in case you’ve been hiding out with CSM in a cave, I’ll give you a brief summary anyway. 

Mulder and Scully have fun and get frisky in an empty airport Chili’s.  They drink alcohol, eat fajitas, and find lots of interesting things to do under a table.  Do yourself a favor and read it.  You’ll never look at fuzzy pink sweaters or Chili’s restaurants the same again.

I haven’t quite mastered the art of making them make out yet, I need more on screen examples to work from ;-)

What more could you ask for really?

• Scully keeps mints in her bag to help Mulder’s fidgeting when there are no sunflower seeds to abuse

• And he restocks her weird twig tea whenever he sees rations are low

• Mulder can’t really appreciate Scully’s hair color because of the one episode where he’s colorblind, so he makes a big show of it whenever someone mentions it. “Scully, you’re a redhead? How could you keep this from me!”

• Scully fetches water for him when they’re stuck in the bullpen because he doesn’t want to deal with anyone trying to strike up a conversation at the water cooler

• They hate each other’s music, Mulder’s weird techno shit and her classical and R&B, but really bond over classic rock

• Mulder pretends he can’t see her when she’s not wearing heels

• Because of this she never offers to pick things up from lower shelves/cabinets/mutant-filled tunnels, instead forcing Mulder to wrap his long legs up and curl in like a rollypolly to get what they need

• Of course Scully kills the bugs

• He makes her coffee just right but she screws his up every time because it’s complex as hell

• She tries to get him to pack his own meals for lunch so they stop leaving the office but relents when he keeps bringing two plain pieces of bread and a bag of potato chips

when scully has to kill a bug, mulder’s that person who’s like “KILL IT KILL IT, WAIT! DONT HURT IT!” and scully has to roll her eyes and take a newspaper and the bug outside the building. 

occasionally scully will switch a paper or picture on the wall and see how long it takes him to notice

mulder always tries to get mini-scully stories out of maggie when he visits 

while teaching at quantico (during the second season), people kept coming up to her asking about ‘spooky mulder’. one kid asked for his phone number to prank call him, so she gave them krycek’s. 

any time they’re on a small town case and theres like a local news photographer there, mulder always manages to discreetly move scully and him into the shot and then get a copy of the picture and hang it up on their wall

mulder finds new healthy recipes to try and impress scully. i mean, hes a terrible cook and once there was literally open flames, but scully thinks its so sweet

if scully’s ever visiting a relative or something and sees something ufo related, she always brings it back for him. 

to go with the “if scully’s not wearing heels, mulder pretends to not see her”, once mulder wore a more bland tie and scully kept running into his chest over and over that day

in keeping with the tie thing, one time scully was going through some of her moms stuff and found old curtains from the seventies, so she cut them up and snuck a tie into mulders collection. he didn’t notice.

once a year they have to have the most awkward talk in their relationship: mulder has run out of clothes and scully has to give them all back. 

that said, mulder hasnt seen his knicks shirt in ten years

in boring meetings, mulder will doodle aliens and bigfoot and stuff like that on a sheet of paper and scully always has to try not to laugh. 

mulder once quoted scully’s thesis in bed. 

mulder “drags” scully to baseball games and more than once they’ve ended up on the kisscam 

there originally was a hand drawn picture of csm on the ceiling that they would throw pencils at, but it got so many holes in it, it fell off

mulder always stocks up on tofutti rice dreamsicles before a heatwave
