i was having a conversation today about enjoying the smiths when youre 20 vs in your 30s, and how they just don't hit the same because in your 30s you appreciate the artistry but in your 20s they just SPEAK to you. And you get older and more, i guess, removed from earnest-ness? and it made me realize why i hate social media and love dropout -- it's the disdain for earnestness and the fact that dropout fucking EMBRACES it. i'm tired of everything having to be clever and self deprecating and mean spirited and cool. i miss media that wears its heart on its sleeve, i miss sincerity, i miss not hiding art and insight behind a facade of being too cool for it

This post is how I've learned that the sexual meaning of "spit roast" has now become more well known than the literal meaning of roasting something on a spit, and the slangy way of using it to describe an ass kicking or a humiliating defeat is completely forgotten
