okay, this is just the invisible crib mod in a different package. it is an OVERRIDE. a DEFAULT. you either have swaddled/half-swaddled babies (all of them, every one of them) in your game or you don't. there are technically two parts to it: the "baby in arms" mesh replacement and the "baby in crib" mesh replacement, you can have both or either, but the "baby in arms" affects EVERY newborn when it's taken out of the crib. conversely, if you don't have it but have the crib, the newborn will grow legs when taken out of the crib. textures affect both meshes; these meshes look hideous with default textures and my textures look hideous on default meshes.
I replaced ONE of the two base game cribs (the Rock-a-bye) with its invisible counterpart that has a swaddled newborn mesh attached to it. I couldn't do anything with the other one, it throws a bone assignment error. this works exactly like any other invisible crib mod - place the invisible Rock-a-bye bassinet before the birth and the newborn will appear in it. then you can move it around. I've changed the footprint so you can place the baby in CC or in-game cribs. most other objects don't work fine because of their own footprints (like these deco cribs if they have Pathing checked - it should be UNchecked. it's a minor fix so I won't go reuploading other creators' meshes for them).
there are two options, like in my original infant post, full-mummy and free-arms. below is another pic of the free-arms version. YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE. textures are mesh-specific. they are separated into two different folders.
there are also two options for default-boy and default-girl textures; one is just slightly different shades of white, the other is furs. YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE. for some idiotic reason I can't replace the bump map for these. I've replaced the three files referenced by the meshes and nada. but it isn't that noticeable.
plus the Growing Together swatches and the Nifty Knitting swatches (thank you @simverses for the newborn defaults, especially for the image instances, which would be extremely difficult to find otherwise). the NK swatches roughly (very roughly) correspond to the colors of wool they need and have custom thumbnails. my attempt at creating custom thumbnails for GT swatches failed miserably, you'll have to choose blindly. but here are two options out of 25:

this isn't quite the breakthrough I was hoping for, but it's something. I won't be surprised if it throws errors or displays otherwise weird behavior so please tell me if there are any issues 🙏 oh, and I haven't tested it on alien babies, but those should work too.

Anyway ~ I cut this dress together because I wanted a simpler, about town dress for my merchants, and well-to-do peasantry to walk around in.

!! There's also a Shirt Color Overlay in Rings if you're feeling spicy, but all the dresses have been designed to look nice even without it!

Anyway–
I've been rewatching Anne with an E and planning a little historical gameplay-ish project, and as always the 1890s-1900s have been heavily on my mind. Today I bring a humble offering of pastoral countryside fashions - including a BGC conversion and mesh edit of the new boater hat, as well as a set of dresses for girls, and some daywear for ladies.

Three variations of the same basic dress, for girls of varying levels of fancyness. The ruffle around the collar of the Diana dress is ripped straight from @vintagesimstress, so many thanks for her open TOU!
The Ruby and Anne dresses take their textures from Diana, so the Diana dress is required if you want the other two to work. Each dress comes in my 30 solids and 24 of @trillyke's plaids, as per usual. Located in the long dress category. The Ruby dress has had the top ruffle removed, and the Anne dress has slimmer sleeves and a less poofy skirt - because we can't all have nice things, even when we really really want them. Sorry Anne.
The apron overlay is found in rings, and it works with all three dresses - as well as possibly with other dresses, though I haven't fully tested it. The overlay for the collar ruffle won't show up on Ruby and Anne, as seen in the cover image, but it may clip with textures if you try and use it on other dresses. This overlay also comes in 30 solids and 24 plaids!
Marilla Blouse / Prissy Dress / Boater Hat
As I was making my Marilla sim for my save file, I found that I really didn't have a lot of good options for simple, plain Victorian-ish blouses, especially given Marilla's open disregard for puff sleeves. So, I made one! This is a recolor of a blouse from L&D, but it has been made BGC so everyone can enjoy! This comes in 30 solids and 24 plaids.
The Prissy dress is a combination of the ever-beloved Edwardian dress from Get Together and the ruffly top from the sleepover kit. It's perfect for tea in the garden, strolling around town, and abandoning an ill-advised marriage to go to University. It comes in my usual 30 solids with a white base, 6 colors with a black base, and 10 extra pastel swatches.
The boater hat is instrumental to the turn-of-the-century-pastoral-aesthetic, and I really loved this one from the prairie kit, but the crown was just awkwardly tall. I shortened it as much as possible, recolored it to hell, and converted it for children and toddlers. 30 ribbon colors on a beige base, plus 8 of them also on black.
CAS Mod - No Make-Up & No Accessories on Randomized Sims
This mod disables make-up and accessories (incl. tattoos and hats) when randomizing a sim in CAS. As a bonus, from my understanding & testing, the same game mechanic is then also applied for any randomly generated townies in-game (not including NPC outfits).
As someone who spends countless hours in CAS and gets quickly frustrated with randomized townie outfits, I felt like this could be useful 😃
You can use this mod simultaneously with my presets mod for randomized sims.
