the entire description is basically like “hes really fucking good at what he does but he overrates himself constantly” n we need to bring this back into canon honest to god. can u fucking imagine. “this guy has tried to kill me five different times today n fucked up at things five different times too but hes STILL doing too good otherwise so i cant get rid of him.” high intelligence low wisdom starscream

The interesting thing about this is that, for Starscream to have all the time and opportunity to plot and attempt to assassinate/undermine Megatron, he must be incredibly efficient at his main job as well.
So, what is his “job”? Destroying Autobots, of course. But you can only battle so long, and being second in command has to come with a lot of admin work, too.
My headcanon is now that Starscream is actually, despite all expectations, freaking excellent at managing people. He sees through you, dude. He knows what you want. He knows how to train, pay, bribe, and encourage you so that you will do your damn job with the minimum of effort from him. He knows this for everyone, and he will treat everyone utterly differently. He’ll bitch and yell at some people, communicate with others via email, praise some for every little thing, never praise others, and his duty rosters are utter chaos because he knows exactly who to put on shift with who else and there is little rhyme or reason to it unless you know who distracts who, who likes who, who hates who, who will help who.
Starscream also hates meetings. So he never has them. The Decepticons under him grudgingly like him for that alone.
This was stated outright in All Hail Megatron where Megatron full on tells Starscream that he believes Starscream will one day become the perfect leader for the victorious, post-war Decepticon nation.
Megatrons who underestimate their Starscreams: BOO

Under keep reading I’m including some of my General Grievous headcanons, because the canon leaves something to be desired. Long text below, sorry.
Me, arguing that I don’t care if Megatron went to another dimension with slower time and learned to become a medic, that doesn’t excuse the fact he’s skipping out on his trial as well as the millions upon millions of people he killed and lead to their deaths who will most likely never get justice cos he’s “one of the good guys” and a handful of bots like him now. “Bettering yourself” doesn’t excuse being a genocidal warlord who abused his own men for 4 million years:
