I think a major trigger for Shane's upcoming breakdown is an internet skit. Like it actually aired or was posted pretty soon after they were outed but everything was such a firestorm that I don't think it got that many views. But after their first season, things are winding down and they have time to breathe for probably the first time since the season started and Shane starts self-harming by going back and looking at the news coverage of their outing and that's when he finds the skit. Its not even that funny, it basically portrays Shane as desperate for russian cock, running around to all the Russians in the league until finally Ilya agrees to fuck him and then reluctantly agreed to marry him when they are outed. Its crass, the only reason Shane knew to look for it was because there was a mildly popular video essayist that called it homophobic and racist. Which it was. The Shane in the skit is barely recognizable as Shane himself. But unfortunately in the skit it has Shane begging for cock like he sometimes does to his husband and it feels like these assholes know something about Shane's private sex life. It feels so fucking humiliating to Shane. He'd rather fucking die than for people to know how close this dialogue is to real things Shane has said.
