Enhanced ACA subsidies disproportionately benefit red states. Losing those subsidies won't just mean skyrocketing prices and some people losing their ACA coverage, they will impact literally everyone in the country.

Healthy people drop out? Insurance premiums go up.

Fewer insured people using health centers and hospitals? Health centers and hospitals close.

More uninsured people using the ER? Healthcare costs go up, hospitals close.

Red states and districts, many already struggling to keep hospitals and health centers open, are going to be hit the hardest (even worse once the Medicaid cuts kick in) and Republicans know that.

People couldn't afford health insurance costs doubling or tripling a decade ago, they absolutely cannot afford it now. And thanks to the pandemic, we have a whole lot more people with preexisting conditions and comorbidities—some of whom don't even know it.

Add to it to the illegal withholding of SNAP benefits, the abdication of duty on illegal tariffs, the gross Medicaid cuts and more... good lord.

No wonder they're trying to ultra-gerrymander now.

The base of the Democratic Party — the voters who always show up to vote for them — is Black voters. Period. White people on the American left make lots of noise about what they want the Democrats to do, but they don’t bother to show up to vote. That’s why Bernie Sanders lost the nomination to be the presidential candidate for the Democrats twice: he didn’t get enough votes.

Republicans have spent almost 20 years getting Black voters thrown off the voting rolls and otherwise making it as difficult as possible for them to vote. This is not just because of racism. It’s because Black voters were the reason Obama won in 2008 and 2012, and the Republicans knew that if Black Americans were allowed to continue to vote, they would never win. That’s why the conservative-dominated Supreme Court decided to vacate the Voting Rights Act that specifically protected Black voters’ rights.

What you’re witnessing right now is the racist backlash from both right and left after Obama’s election. Leftists love Bernie Sanders because he’s white. They claim to love AOC but, just like with Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris, if AOC ever dares to try and rise above her station and run for president, she will lose, because she is not a white man.

If we’re even able to have a reasonably fair election in 2028, the Democrats will have to run a white man. Not because a white man is representative of the Democratic Party, but because white American leftists will only show up to vote for a white man.

It looks like it's only bluesky encouraging people to get involved in money muling for "Gaza" but given there's a big overlap in userbase: please, for the love of God, do not do this. Do not let anyone in your social circle agree to do this. Do not trust or give money to anyone asking you to do this.

The person openly encouraging and recruiting people to be receivers is an American living abroad in Germany*, refuses to act as a receiver herself, has no formal training in fundraising, international aid fundraising, refugee support or social services. She doesn't appear to have a job or is very bad at it because by all accounts her day to day life revolves around "vetting" Gaza fundraisers, which involves reverse Google Image search, texting on Whatsapp, and quote "vibes" and recruiting receivers for fundraisers, and now, name calling criminal defense attorneys and human rights advocates pointing out that this is dangerous and irresponsible.

All of this is going to get well meaning people sent to Club Fed and is also a hugely inefficient way to get resources to starving Gazans.

Transgender people are in the crosshairs of numerous efforts to take away their rights. Reproductive rights are under attack all over the country.

The AG is threatening to charge people vandalizing Teslas with terrorism, and send them to El Salvador.

Trump is ramping up threats against Greenland, Canada, Gaza, and Panama. He is "not ruling out" using military force to conquer them and make them American territories.

Ukraine is being extorted for its minerals, while Putin continues to bomb them without consequence.

RFK Jr is gutting the nation's healthcare and scientific community, and suggesting that letting diseases simply "run their course" is the best response to Measles, TB, Bird Flu, and other diseases running rampant in the country. He has canceled the annual meeting to determine what the 2025 Flu Vaccine will be, so there likely will not be any Flu Vaccinations for people as Flu Season starts this fall.

Federal agencies have been gutted and taken over by Elon Musk's little squad of minions. Thousands have been fired, USAID has been destroyed which has been estimated to cause 3 million preventable deaths by year's end, and even domestic aid like Food Banks are being shuttered.

Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are on the chopping block. The DOJ and military are being purged, replacing career professionals with loyalists that will do whatever Trump demands.
