getting scambot messages from random accounts that clearly used to be normal active blogs is sad enough. you know that there used to be a real person on that blog until they were tricked into handing their password to the digital fae.
but it's an entirely new level of tragic when somebody you've actually spoken to gets turned into a bot account. it's like peeking at a zombie apocalypse through the window and realizing one of the shambling corpses was your friend.
and then the zombie catches sight of you, lurches up to your window, and shouts through the glass that they accidentally reported your account to tumblr and you'll be deactivated unless you click this link.
RIP to the blog that used to DM me to tell me they liked my new chapters. Their last known words spoken before being turned, 17 hours ago: "Ggs!" They were praising someone's deadlift.
the message they tried to get me with is probably the same message that got them, so for anybody who hasn't already been warned about the signs of a zombie account:
if you get something like this ↑ they're gonna follow up by instructing you to contact tumblr support on discord and give you contact info; or they're gonna link a website that looks sort of like tumblr support and say you have to email them; or any variety of "you must now contact tumblr, here is how you contact tumblr."
whatever they send you, it Does Not lead to tumblr. it leads to the master zombie that bit them and inducted them into the ranks of the undead, and will bite you the second they have your email and password. i might be confusing zombies and vampires. anyway,
it's easier to fall for these messages because the blog doesn't LOOK like a bot blog, because it ISN'T a bot blog. it's a normal person's blog that got accessed by a bot, meaning the blog's content CLEARLY looks like a real active user when you click on it. and yes—it might even be a blog you already know. sometimes bots like this go down a blog's DMs or reblogs and message people they've previously interacted with.
they got one of my treasured followers, and they can get you too. don't fall for their tricks. know the signs.
For the fourth year in a row now, it's time for Small Fandom Summer! Join me for Small Fandom Summer! It's real easy to play:
Make a fanwork for something that has fewer than 1000 English-language works on AO3
Post it to AO3
And then you've done it! You've made a thing and you've diversified the fandom ecosystem! You're basically a hero.
Q: The fandom I want to create for has more than 1000 English-language works on AO3, but the specific pairing I want to write for has fewer than that. Does that count?
A: Yes!
Q: What if it has more than 1000 English-language works on AO3, but, like, just barely?
A: Okay!
Q: What if it actually has a lot more than 1000 English-language works on AO3, but it still feels small?
A: Sure!
Q: What if I don't want to post it to AO3? What if I don't even have an AO3 account? Can I post it somewhere else?
A: Wherever!
Q: What if--
A: Just do a thing, friend. Make a thing. Share the thing. This is not meant to be restrictive; this is meant to be inspirational. Create the fanworks you want to see in the world. Make a stranger happy by appealing to their niche interests. Bring joy.
And if you want to give yourself some silly little Steam-like achievement badges to commemorate your accomplishments, well, you're in luck! I've made a bunch of them right here! You can grab the ones that apply to your work and paste them wherever you like and feel good about what you've done. Here's a few of my favorites:
So you see? This is meant to be silly and fun.
There's nowhere to sign up. There's nothing to commit to. There's zero pressure. You just do it if you do it, and don't if you don't. But if you do want to play (yay!), tag your stuff with #small fandom summer so we can all swoop in and appreciate everyone else's efforts.
apologies if this has already been asked, but if (heavy if) tigerclaw had told his plans to darkstripe, how would darkstripe have responded?
I don't think he'd believe it. Not initially. But once it got through his head that Tigerclaw was serious, as horrifying as it is, he would take that secret to the grave. The worst enabler possible, I'd say.
Half the things in this fucking fic series, you could take to canon readers and express how absolutely insane they are and they're completely tame to someone with no context.

If you are an author who is looking for a beta reader, repost this image to ask if anyone in your fandom(s) is willing to volunteer.
Other information you might want to include in your post:
Rating of the fic you want to be beta read
Ship(s) in the fic - if any
The kinds of tasks you are hoping a beta can help you with (here’s a checklist that might help)
Length of the fic that you want help with (in hundreds/thousands of words). If it's a WIP, give an estimate with a range of words you think it might end up at
How a beta can reach out to you to see if you’ll work well together
If you're willing to be a beta and are looking for an author to help, use this banner instead.
sorry this took so long, I got to drawing things and then my friend encouraged me to half-ass the art so it'd be done in a more timely manner
so yeah! space romance!
it's pretty rough atm, I haven't spent a lot of time thinking about it in-depth, so things will surely be elaborated upon as I think about it
this is the solar system I'm primarily focusing on! every celestial body is in some way habitable, though not necessarily to every living being (most mortals can't live on the sun or the gas giants, for instance)
these names are placeholders, ftr, except the Reef and the Barrier, I quite like those names. I also need a name for this system besides "the sol system" since it makes me think of our real one first.
also the dots under their names are the number of major habitable moons/dwarf planets it has. other asteroids of the Reef and Barrier and moons of Tundra and Oceans certainly have habitation, they're just not noteworthy enough to be marked by most diagrams.
for the sapient beings of the system, I don't have them fully sketched out yet, but I do have a few things as a jumping-off point.
ælfolk
the most common people across the system, native to Marble. they're pretty ordinary all things considered, and have a wide variety of subtypes. this one here is the garden variety/platonic ideal of an ælfolk, in simple garb.
fairymice
the smallest people of the system, native to Marble, though present on many worlds. they often coexist with ælfolk settlements/enclaves, though there are a few independent fairymouse colonies.
starkids
one of two(?) kinds of wishborne, created when a wish floats aimlessly about space. they're born as nondescriptly humanoid-shaped black nebulae, but exposure to other (humanoid) intelligent people will shape their appearance to resemble a child of whatever people they live amongst. this one here is an individual raised in a primarily ælfolk background. they wear masks to focus their identity and personality, as without one for too long, they'd dissipate into stardust.
sunfolk
the other kind of wishborne, created when a wish falls into the sun. upon hatching from its sunstone shell, the sunfolk will grow a tough shell of sol-iron around their soft, fiery skin. they are rarely seen outside of their home and birthplace, usually guarding a mortal of their choosing. while mortals find them eerie and intimidating, their smaller cousins adore them, as do the sunfolk in turn.
there's a few other intelligent creatures I have in store, but haven't gotten around to finding a design for (namely void angels and dragons). others I haven't yet found a way to fill the niche in a way I like, like a precursor people, a few varieties of artificial people, and a people form the next star system over.

oooh do you have any worldless ocs? or worldbuilding or headcanons or something you wanna yap about?
not any OCs in the conventional sense, no. I've had the vague idea of a bird-like hybrid star called a fenghuang far off in another echo of the universe where our protagonists can't get to 'em, but other than "looks like a bird" I have no idea what it looks like.
I am. very shippy with our duo, ngl. I love daydreaming about their love and how they fumble about with being the first couple ever, and navigate their thoughts and feelings and desires for one another. there's angst potential when they struggle to articulate themselves and there's fluff potential when they find comfort in each other, I just–
i don’t know you but i saw you wanted asks about ocs and worldbuilding and stuff
wanna gimme something to ask about? i don’t know anything at all about them but i can
uhhhh lessee
in media I like, we got Rain World, Hollow Knight (and Silksong), Worldless, Pokemon (and its Mystery Dungeon spinoff), My Little Pony (specifically FiM and its EqG spinoff, but I also have a fondness for the G1 specials), Watership Down, Warrior Cats (that one's a stockholm-esque love-hate relationship).
I'm also trying to get into Hyper Light Drifter for the seventh time, I am not exaggerating. if anyone has tips on how to approach the game from someone who did Pantheon of Hallownest and Steel Soul + Speed Completion in HK, and has played every campaign to completion and done the Pearl Quest twice in Rain World, I'd greatly appreciate it.
someone else asked about the space romance worldbuilding thing and first I gotta illustrate it, but my digital sketches are ass. I draw slowly due to getting easily distracted so that'll take a long while. planets are surprisingly hard to make look good.
I haven't had an OC I'm super passionate about in a good long while, but I do have a blorbo in the form of Hornet HK Silksong. I like her quite a lot. and I annoy my friends with how much I like her XD
me, thinking to myself: I really want more people to ask me about my blorbos and OCs and worldbuilding stuff
me: *doesn't post about it at all from a mild fear of being annoying with my weird interests*
me, not getting asks about my blorbos and OCs and worldbuilding stuff:
