fandom will talk about a man being every flavor of closeted queer before they talk about his canon misogyny

yeah so i asked myself that and it turns out that in this case the author is usually trying to convey “i hate women”

and it’s crazy because that wasn’t even what my post was about. this one is actually completely about the way fandom interacts with spoken misogyny in fiction, by regularly and extensively conflating it with repressed queerness and/or using (headcanoned) queerness as a tool to justify and excuse the overt textual misogyny. i’m not even talking about WHY the writers chose to make this guy suck about women specifically, i’m just pissed off because i keep watching “omg so gay” tv shows and movies as recommended by other queer people and it turns out the “gayness” is in fact just a man hating women

being in love with the process and not the results is one of the healthiest things in the world

in this same vein: being proud of yourself for the work and not the product brings so much more happiness 

you make one fucking post where the point is “women are encouraged to develop disordered eating from a very young age and that impacts how we view the ‘natural’ size and shape of women” and too many reblogs later i am being accused of saying short people wouldn’t exist if they ate better growing up. i’m sorry but if you genuinely think i was saying that you are just a buffoon. i cannot and will not sanction your buffoonery.

Something neuroscience-y that helps with prose: attention is selective. A character will not notice everything in a room. They will notice what matters to their goal, fear, desire, training, wound, or obsession. A jealous character notices hands. a hungry character notices food. A soldier notices exits. A lonely character notices pairs. Description becomes character when attention has a bias.

"what if someone regrets transitioning" if you are 18 or over in free country usa you can walk into any tattoo parlor and ask for a tattoo that will be on your body forever and ever and ever and they will give it to you with the understanding that if you dont like the result or you regret it later that's your fucking problem and not theirs

Y'all for real please do these. Even if you're certain your posture doesn't suck. One day you will wake up with impinged shoulder pain like I did and let me tell you it fucking HURTS. Do these exercises even just once a week and it will make such a difference. Especially my fellow creatives out there, stop shrimping over your work and go do these right now. RIGHT NOW.

Also, if you’re even a little concerned about getting a hump or having trouble standing fully upright in your old age, this is how you prevent that. If you want to be up and about when you’re old you have to start when you’re younger. And keep in mind there is no bad time to start and it’s never too late. Starting today is way better than never starting at all.
