Playing this quest made me wonder if part of the reason Kaeya was so eaten up by guilt on the night Crepus died was because he realized Crepus had been betrayed by Eroch who was his best childhood friend/“brother”.

Maybe that is why Kaeya told Diluc then. It was an attempt to show Diluc he would not play that role or repeat those same mistakes with them, but Diluc was too hurt to view it like that and his grief got the better of him. Instead of being reassured of their bond, all Diluc could see was the roles his father had fallen victim to. He could only see Eroch’s betrayal in Kaeya’s actions and his father’s dying face in his own

The fact Kaeya continued to push Diluc & showed he cares over the years (writing letters, reaching out to him, covering up his secrets) kind of emphasizes this thought for me. This entire time Kaeya has been trying to show Diluc they aren’t Crepus and Eroch and he will never turn traitor to his brother.

This is the horse Diluc gave him at the end of OUAE. I just realized I never named her.

They are shifting and changing monstrosities that are impossible to describe in their eldritch horror. 

They’re more of a feeling of bugs crawling over your skin as you fall asleep. They are the feeling of being watched alone on the street at 3am when nothing good can happen. The feeling of being lost in the woods and the sun is stetting and an unknown man is following Ther feeling that snakes are in the muddy water you must swim through. The feeling there is a wasp hiding in the room waiting to get you. 

I think Kaeya has ties or connections to angels or the shades. It is why I wrote certain aspects of OUAE and LCotK to include those possibilities. Kaeya was the first person to ever mention the ruins that The Temple of Space resides to us all the way back in 1.0.

So the small subtle design choices that both he and Nihilita have only push the narrative that Kaeya has a connection to the shades/angels/something ancient and greater as well somehow. Only time will tell what Kaeya's subtle and not so subtle foreshadowing means

I am, but it won’t be until after Fourth Contact is done. That is the last long fic I plan to write for this fandom However the OG plot I had no longer works with the current lore so I need to scrap it and rework the plot

The game mechanics of LoL do not interest me but I love their MVs, Arcane, and lore so I will have to go and check out their stories! Thanks for letting me know about them ^^

I like him as a character from a plot dynamic sake, but I do not like him as a person. He gave me the ick with his attitude towards Rerir and King Irmin. He was totally fine serving the evil king until HE personally was affected (his brother was imprisoned) and after he found out Rerir’s sins regarding him committing genocide against CHILDREN of the Crimson Moon Dynasty he was still like “well idk if I can bring myself to help the Traveler banish him to the Moon gate even though he’s going to destroy the world and kill everyone with the Abyss 👉👈🥺" Genuinely fuck him for that.

Another Chasm affects Kaeya fic

Kaeya’s hands hand not stopped shaking by the time he reached his office. He sagged against the door as it latched shut against his weight. His face hid behind his right hand. The eye hidden underneath his patch throbbed within its socket, burning like some sort of tumor that was hiding in plane sight. He didn’t bother to open his eyes or fiddle with the lantern as he felt his way forward and around the room. The hollowed-out book landed on his desk. He grabbed the bottle hidden inside and ripped the cork out with his teeth.

The captain took three deep gulps before he collapsed into his chair and stared up at the ceiling with the drink cradled to his chest.

I don't know if he has *death* flags, but I do think that his Fate within Teyvat is to be a sad ending considering he even jokes about him and Diluc being "doomed together" However, Fate has been thwarted before and I think it is possible it will be thwarted again for Kaeya's (K) sake based on past plot points in the game.

Durin is a good example of this. As is Dvalin, since we now know that Varka leaving Mond allowed the Traveler to be the blonde hero to save the day which resulted in Dvalin being cured of his corruption.

I think K has a "doomed narrative" by Fate in the world of Teyvat based on his hangout quest as well as his comment about him &Diluc being "doomed together" to name a couple of examples K also mentions Fate a lot randomly in the game. I believe this is foreshadowing.

However, I think he too will be spared his "doomed Fate" because of the Traveler & their abilities as a Descender to manipulate Fate somewhat. It seems as though they have the ability to save all their loved ones who have visions from a bad fate.

I am not sure that Hoyo will actually kill someone off within the plot of Genshin at this point. It seems that they conveniently resurrect or spare their playable characters (not that I am complaining I would like a happily ever after to this story as corny as it might be)

I think Kaeya's hangout featuring the play scene only backs this theory up. Kaeya is planning on defying his Fate and doesn't plan on bowing down to whatever cruel fate Fate is trying to bind him to.

To answer your second question: yes, I believe he will be relevant in the plot later on. I specifically believe he will become a large plot point for the bridge from Teyvat to the Khaenri'ahn arc

Kaeya comes up for no reason all the time through the game. It's like Hoyo is reminding us he exists despite a situation having nothing to do with him. An example of this is his mention in the Chasm quest (which was a huge lore drop about the cursed Khaenri'ahians)

Or how he met Dainsleif and talked about his surname two years before Dains met any other playable character. Not to mention the Alberich clan is the very one who founded the Abyss Order that the Traveler's twin is now prince/princess over

The Alberich clan seem to be important to the plot. Especially considering Calibert Alberich proved to be a huge plot point to the story in regards to the creation of the Loom of Fate which was crafted for the benefit and welfare of Khaenri'ah's Ley Lines.

I am unsure why you think I believe differently? /gen I've never said that Kaeya seeing Crepus as his father was a theory of mine. It is very obviously canon information at this point in the game.
