Day 2 fatui
Do you think Diluc and Kaeya would squish each other's cheeks as kids as a weird little bonding exercise? Crepus would just walk in on them sitting on the ground with them squishing and pulling on the other's face, they had red marks on their faces by the end of it but they looked really happy + adorable.
That's really funny, very them though! I could definitely see them pulling and picking at each other's faces. Poor Crepus though mans likely grew up an only child and is so confused..
I've had Kaeya on my mind recently thanks to the 7.0 livestream dropping that crazy lore, and I've also had Splatoon on my mind now that my copy of Splatoon Raiders finally came in the mail and it's slowly taking over my life. So of course, the most logical thing for my brain to do is to combine these two interests.
Imagine if you will a Genshin AU where the Ragnvindrs are a clan in the Inkling world, and Kaeya is an Octoling that was adopted into their family. He was sent to the surface to do something for the Octarians, but he's conflicted since he considers the Ragnvindrs his family and the greater Inkling world his home.
I feel like a story like this would work better back in the Splatoon 2 days because now it seems like the whole Inklings vs. Octolings story is done and Octolings can hang out on the surface. I remember that when Octo Expansion came out, the Inklings thought the Octolings were just Inklings with weird hairstyles. So in this AU, I'm imagining Kaeya going up to Diluc and telling him that he's an Octoling, and Diluc just stands there silently before responding with "Yeah, no sh*t."
"You knew the whole time?!"
"Yeah, it's very obvious. Everyone else is just stupid."
"Oh okay... also I was sent by the Octarians to [insert plot here]."
"YOU WHAT?!"
I'm going to be honest, I don't know the exact specifics of how the Ragbros story would work in an AU like this and how Inkling Diluc would react, but I do imagine that by the time of the current status of the world, the two would have reconciled and Kaeya would feel better about his identity. I just wanted to get this idea out there. Maybe I'll try to sketch what the Ragbros could look like in this AU.

With all the Snheznaya lore bombs lately, I just wanna say shout out to the one ao3 author who wrote that angsty ragbros fic where Kaeya becomes the new Cryo archon. You hit closer than anyone else at the time.

Diluc catches the pointed look and rolls his eyes at The Cavalry Captain. "Perhaps if you didn't try to start drinking at so early..."
"It's called Death After Noon, not Death After Reasonable Business Hours, you jerk.” Kaeya retorted.

"Besides, someone has to help my brother remember how to smile.” Kaeya blinked a comical amount of times in rapid succession.
"I'm standing right here.” Diluc’s voice’s dryer than wood. What a brat…
“Oh, I know.” Kaeya grinned, definitely too proud of that line.
