"come chat with me on tumblr/twitter" is code for "please locate and use my ko-fi", right? No one actually wants their readers to strike up a conversation outside ao3, do they?
--
I would not assume that at all.
Often, yes, they do have a ko-fi, but a lot of people link to their fucking CuriousCat, and what's that about if not interaction? Many writers do like getting to know others in the fandom.
Plus, AO3 has no DM function. Writers may be anticipating all the things DMs would be useful forβlike dropping them a quick note about embarrassing typos without making it a public AO3 comment.
Why wouldn't you want readers to strike up a conversation, anon?
I literally have a whole Discord server that I started just for talking with my readers. While it's grown to include other fanfic authors by this point, I love it when I have new people join specifically to talk about my writing!
I actually donβt give a shit if I get a ko-fi. Itβs happened a few times and it was really awesome but not as awesome as someone who was too embarrassed to leave me a comment sending me gorgeous fanart as a gift via tumblr. Or all the lovely people who joined for snippets and spoilers and instead get deluged in Old Hollywood and Jumblr and still stick around.
I actually do give a lot of fucks about my writing and all the wonderful people who seem, unfathomably, to enjoy it. I love discussing my characters with them and doing ask memes and just getting to know them.
So no. Fuck my ko-fi. Send me an ask about my guys instead. β€οΈ
I don't even have a ko-fi but I still point to my tumblr on AO3 because I love to chat with fellow fans. Not to mention how wonderful it is to get the rare kind message about my writing from readers who followed me here from AO3. Why do some people immediately suppose the worst about others?
this got Numbers on twitter so iβm posting here cause i literally have nothing else going on but working on my webcomic which you can read here and support here
Parallels between Johanna Constantine in The Sandman, and Clara Oswald in Doctor Who
Some more parallels:
Johanna / Clara is told about Morpheus / the Doctor before they first meet them by a mad, immortal woman.
Morpheus / The Doctor has previously met a very similar character in the past, who has a very similar name, who is also played by Jenna Coleman.
A lot of the story revolves around Johanna's / Clara's relationship with their girlfriend / boyfriend, how they die, how that affects Johanna / Clara, and how she can subsequently teach Morpheus / the Doctor an important lesson.
Johanna and Clara are bi.
Johanna & Morpheus, and Clara & the Doctor are equals to each other, and interact in that way as well.
Both Lady Johanna and Clara are involved in the story of Orpheus. In the Sandman (in later comics), Lady Johanna Constantine saves Orpheus from the French Revolution, and is ultimately buried on the island of Orpheus. As concerns Clara, Face the Raven / Heaven Sent / Hell Bent is pretty much the Doctor Who rendition of the legend of Orpheus and Eurydice.
Can you think of any others?

my trauma didnβt make me stronger it made me addicted to escapism and terrified of facing reality
Apple propaganda notwithstanding, the reason tower PCs are big isnβt because theyβre outdated. The reason tower PCs are so bulky is because theyβre designed to be user serviceable. The case has lots of open space so your big, meaty hands can easily access all of the components, and everything is secured with friction-fit tabs and standard machine screws to minimise the need for specialised tools. A properly laid out tower PC is fully serviceable with a single Phillips-head screwdriver and no greater manual skill than your average Lego playset β heck, for some of the more modern case layouts you donβt even need the screwdriver, unless youβre performing major surgery like a full motherboard replacement.
Like, think about who benefits from convincing you that a fully modular computing device that can be serviced and repaired with your bare hands and minimal technical skill is unfashionable.
