WHATTTT
I was confused by the panic on my dash. But I understand now. Damn.
Müller, a 28-year-old star center, won an Olympic bronze medal with Switzerland in Milan.
“go to hell” is basic. “i hope your favorite team recruits britta curl-salemme” is smart. it’s possible. it’s terrifying.
HAPPY PRIDE
I haven’t had a chance to complete my Phase 2 predictions, but I have some preliminary ones below, just so I can see how right I am if anything gets announced while I’m at work. Expansion Foundational Offers (EFOs) must be accepted by the player chosen, unless the player is offered that from multiple teams. Foundational Player Offers may be accepted or denied. However if they’re denied, the player must sign a contract in phase 3.
Detroit: Abbey Roque (EFO), Grace Zumwinkle (FPO), Kendall Coyne Schofield (FPO), Nicole Hensley (FPO), Claire Thompson (FPO)
Hamilton: Claire Thompson (EFO), Brianne Jenner (FPO), Jessie Eldridge (FPO), Julia Gosling (FPO), Erin Ambrose (FPO)
San Jose: Daryl Watts (EFO), Emma Maltais (FPO), Kendall Coyne Schofield (FPO), Maggie Flaherty (FPO), Lee Stecklein (FPO)
Las Vegas: Daryl Watts (EFO), Nicole Hensley (FPO), Emma Maltais (FPO), Jenn Gardiner (FPO), Grace Zumwinkle (FPO)
I recognize that it’s likely that teams are submitting similar lists and the player may be the one choosing, hence why some players may appear on multiple lists. Ideally only EFOs are announced today if anything is announced today. I assume EFOs will be announced prior to FPOs but there’s a chance the league waits to announce it all at once.

today’s date is the 3rd? what’s next, the 4th? the 5th? the minor fall, the major lift?
PWHL Expansion Phase 1 Thoughts
In general, more goalies were protected than I thought there would be (except for the Sirens who I thought would protect Osborne). It makes sense. I just did not prioritize goalies when creating my protection predictions. In addition to not prioritizing goalies enough, I know I also didn't consider contracts as much as I should have, even if that less obviously impacted my predicted results.
By the numbers, I predicted 15/24 protected players correctly. This amounted to an average of 1.71 correct per team if you did not include Montreal since that guess was more just listening to rumors. (My average correct per team if Montreal was included was only 1.875 per team, so not a substantial amount better.)
I continue to be stressed out by the expansion process. That seems inevitable at this point.

So I did a thing.
your three expansion essentials, IMO
Kyle cushmans gigantic fucking data sheet with contract info stats and everything, in particular the offseason depth tab - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Yd2UnTm4fqr6-nrlZ6UrF54ky5s92fFjX_Da9BWM0fE/

pwhl salary list - this does not give full context, as its only last years salaries and as we know theres players whos contracts vary drastically from year to year, but it can at least illuminate some decision making both for protection and expansion choices https://www.pwhlpa.com/salary-guide
Additional resource I like is the data visualization of the PWHL Salary list by 365HockeyGirl: (It's the same info as the pwhlpa salary guide but you can sort by player, team and has a distribution scatter plot)

All this talk about PWHL protection lists but who’s protecting my sanity. Makes you think.
I know lots of families share accounts so it’s not weird but I love my family’s shared Audible account. My dad had a 1.5 hour commute for most of my childhood so he listened to so many audiobooks. This started with cassettes from the library, then cds he could purchase and finally evolved into an audible account in 2011. Since the account is 15 years old, we have 407 library with books that span the gambit from massive biographies, entrepreneurship, self help, summer romance, fantasy, NYT best sellers, classics assigned for school, etc. As we’ve gotten older, my sisters and I have had more of a say in what we add to the library. Sometimes this means consulting to see if the others would read it too, but most of the time this just means asking for permission to use a credit than getting whatever we want.
