The Cipher Legacy

To add to the discussion/reminder that Theron Shan is poc and not white: a seemingly small yet significant detail about his design-- true to both the game model and concept art-- is that his eyes are monolid.

This trait is shared with Satele Shan:

Monolids are common among people of East and Southeast Asian descent.

For my fellow artists out there; here's a guide on portraying Asian traits and avoiding whitewashing [*largely applies to East Asian]. I bring this up mainly cus I often see art portraying both Theron and Satele without their monolids.

Side note: though in-game Jace Malcom has double-lid eyes

I've seen instances where he also has monolids, like in cinematics. Felt this was something worth noting.

Overall, in any case: both Satele and Malcom are very obviously not white and have features notably absent from art of Theron, official and fan made.

Keeping Theron's parents in mind when portraying him is important even when things between official art, cinematic trailers, and in-game look a bit inconsistent and some speculativeness may be needed. Fan-artists and official artists alike often seem to struggle with giving Theron his parent's features, to show him with ethnic traits; that needs to change.

Bottom line: Theron is poc! Both of his bio parents are poc! And that should show in how he's visually portrayed!

So Theron basically is Polywasian? Anyways he's got a rich ethnical background and quite unique features so it's easy to draw him too white or too asian by accident. To add to this post (since lately people are putting more guides to draw him?), lemme associate which features come from which parent!

Hair: Satele, both have brown hair and grays as they get older. But the hair volume/texture is probably closer to Jace.

Face shape: Jace.

Eyebrows: Jace.

Eyes: He has Satele's monolids but has Jace's hooded eyes. Eye color more likely to be from Jace's side since they're greenish and the Shans seem to have a strong blue eye gene but it could be either since we don't know the grandparents eyes colors 🤷‍♀️

Ears: Satele.

Nose: Jace.

Mouth: a bit of both but lips leaning more Jace, I think. But the mouth lines more Satele.

Well, may I offer the following! An old video from Sno E. Blac's youtube, where she talks about how she is Satele Shan.

At about 1:13 in the video, she says, "my character is Satele Shan."

Her IMDB profile says she is Korean and Caucasian, which is information provided from a now deleted interview from askajedi.

My Mother is Korean and my Father is Caucasian – so thats where the unique look of Satele Shan comes from ;-). Prior to acting I did a bunch of beauty pageants througout Georgia and California. Now unfortunately we've never had information regarding who was the model for Jace's face. But, as previously mentioned, Jace, and the trooper class as a whole, are very clearly inspired by the clones from the movies and TCW, who are in turn portrayed by Maori actors: Temuera Morrison as an adult, and Daniel Logan who played kid Boba Fett in the prequels.
