being extremely out of the loop especially regarding social media trends and discourse means you often end up learning things only after they've been turned into memes like ten times removed from the original context. for example the first time I ever read the term "girl dinner" it was on a gif of the T-Rex from Jurassic Park eating people so you can imagine the confusion when some time later I stumbled upon posts where people were hating on it and calling it gender essentialist
it's seriously fucked up that our society expects women to spend most of their energy hunting alone and fighting for their food while men can just chill with their herds as they munch on leaves
i understand why writers keep their alien worldbuilding relatively simple for story practicality reasons but its always a lil funny to me when a sci-fi series is like "this alien species is a culture of bounty hunting warriors" like damn all of them? the whole planet? a whole planet-scale society built on bounty hunting? that seems highly impractical but i'll believe it for you bestie.

ok ok. Dantalion story time.
obviously this is subject to change, but the general rundown is that she absolutely was a sith science experiment. her cursed existence is one that no sane person would voluntarily choose-- turned into a monster, treated like a feral creature, and she's not even remarkably special in that regard. many others did not survive the same treatment. she did not choose this, but the kicker is this: neither would she cure herself of it when given the chance. much of who she is now is defined by her deformity and the circumstances leading up to it. there is no returning to the life that never was. she was taken from her home as a young pup and only knew the inside of a sterile lab from thereon out, being a product of one of the first forays into creating new servant species and footsoldiers for the sith. bigger, stronger, more aggressive--yet servile, and so a relatively harmless alien subject was chosen to see how much of these traits could be warped.
the Sith scientist who made her was brilliant. she learned everything there was to learn about science and alchemy from them, though they never suspected that Dantalion was anything but a dumb beast who could not understand them or their work. but day by day, Dantalion watched, learned, and waited. she taught herself all of it; the equations, the chemistry, the labwork, their language. she played the snarling animal to perfection, concealing her true intelligence and bided her time until it was right.
her creator's death was mysterious at best, found dead of a sudden heart attack, as if all the blood had stopped flowing in their veins. most of their work was stolen. the authorities chalked it up to a rival's foul play and let the trail run cold. then, one by one, all the members of that house began to die in both quiet and gruesome ways, until only the eldest daughter was left. she pleaded guilty to her family's murder, begging to be taken into Imperial custody, despite no evidence pointing to her having any hand in what appeared to be a series of cryptic accidents. she was later found deceased in her isolated cell, asleep with a smile on her face and drained of all blood.
for a time, there was an undercurrent of fear that a blood plague had taken the fallen house and would infect the rest of the nobility. rumors spread like wildfire of the curse of the beast who haunted said house, and some spoke of a dark romance that occurred between the last daughter and the monster. many strange things were reported happening around such rumors, but ultimately, none would come to light.
but if you ask any Chadra-Fan, they will tell you it is all true. they will ask you not to utter her name. they will tell you to offer a few drops of your blood when the cycle's moons are highest in the sky, and to not go where the ruins of a sith sanctum once lay. for on the darkest nights, one can imagine the ever-reaching silhouette of she who is older than stone....
