Kol — all of the birds’ initial leave-takings were clumsy—sora’s death, elodie’s hasty goodbye—but the worst was cleo, who didn’t even get a farewell. one day she was there and the next day she was gone from the island and kol’s life. meeting again has been strange—kol distrusts the faith cleo has found and it’s hard to square her childhood friend with the paladin she’s traveling with now. kol doesn’t really trust the changes she sees; it puts her on edge

Kol — kol knows herself enough to know she doesn’t want to know more. she’s got a box somewhere inside her and it’s straining at the seams but she’s stubbornly not looking at it. as long as she has a task and a purpose and a goal she’s functional; if she were to really stop and interrogate herself she’d have to face the fact that she doesn’t know who she is or what she wants or what she's doing with her life besides following orders. that awareness is always there at the back of her mind, but she’s gotten really good at ignoring it

Vesper — vesper’s self aware in the way of a chronic overthinker; she’s always had the belief that if she can simply know herself well enough she’ll be able to untangle everything in her head and iron herself out and make herself neat and well-fit for the world around her. obviously this isn’t how being a person works which has caused her some degree of trouble over the years but during the span of the inquisition she gets better at self-awareness without the underlying need to shape herself into something palatable for other people

Intimacy: Is your OC the type of person to engage in long-term relationships, or are they more casual in their intimacy and affection? How do they feel about intimacy and relationships in general?

Phillipa — her only relationship to date has been long-term (and mostly long-distance). when she falls she falls hard; casual intimacy is difficult for her. she’s very deeply loyal to a partner and dislikes feeling like she’s leading anyone on. this was the case even before she was dumped but post-breakup she feels even worse about the possibility of playing with anyone’s feelings, which is one of the reasons the current need to secure a match is uncomfortable for her. in general she’s a bit of a romantic.

Kol — kol has never had a long-term relationship. she’s never had a short-term relationship either. the first and last time she hooked up with anyone, that person turned out to be working against her and her friends; kol made out with her in the morning and by nighttime kol was holding her by the throat while her no-longer-dead ex-best-friend rifled through the woman’s mind. she doesn’t do relationships and in general she feels bad about intimacy. it just makes her squirmy and uncomfortable

Vesper — vesper really can’t do casual intimacy and affection; it takes her a long time to get close to anyone and if she manages that then she’s pretty committed. she’s had maybe two serious relationships in her life and that’s honestly fine with her. she finds the idea of love very sweet but the reality to be nothing like that—it’s both better and harder than stories make it out to be

Friendship: What's your OC like as a friend? How are they at making new friends? What are the most important friendships in your OC's life?

Phillipa — she’s the kind of friend who looks out for people and tries to make things better; she’s quick to check in but tries her best not to pry. she genuinely enjoys looking out for people and that comes through in her friendships. lady christina has been her best friend for years but she’s very much enjoying getting to know ser francis and lady lillian and their friends. (imogen was also her best friend for a time, which is one part of why the breakup hurts so badly—more than losing a lover, she’s lost a friend)

Kol — she’s so bad at making friends. the last time she really made friends was with the birds as a kid; the empire isn’t a friend-making place and kol, being a quick study, learned that very fast. that said, she’s horribly loyal. she doesn’t even really like the birds as grown ups but their childhood friendship binds her to them in ways even kol isn’t really able to articulate. she’d do pretty much anything for them even though she hates being in the situation she’s in with them. crazy unhinged shit.

For Good: Is there anyone in your OC's life who had an undeniable positive impact on who they are as a person? How did knowing this person improve your OC's life?

Phillipa — honestly most of the people in her life so far have reinforced the constraints of society in ways that aren’t necessarily bad for her but haven’t made her better as a person or measurably improved her quality of life. the closest anyone comes is her friend lady christina kingsley-merriwether who has been a stalwart friend and ally and who pippa cares for deeply. that said, there are a few people she’s hanging out with right now that might really change how she lives her life!

Dai — harrowing though their relationship has been, it’s izzy. she took a sledgehammer to a lot of his carefully constructed way of living which was a net positive for him as a person. and zaref and the rest of the party obviously but izzy getting under his skin made him reconsider things he’d never stopped to think about. he owes a lot of his growth to her being an absolute gremlin

Minah — absolutely 100% it’s Alesso diMar, Maestro of the Orchestra Volare, her dear friend and teacher for many many years. the orchestra saved her life, literally and figuratively; everything she knows she studied there and they also gave her a reason to live again when she was terrified and starving and being hunted by mercenaries. minah vo literally wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for alesso dimar and his orchestra.

For Bad: Is there anyone who had an undeniable negative impact on your OC’s life? How did your OC deal with that change? Have they been able to move on?

Phillipa — her ex-fiancée imogen mcallister who dumped her by letter like 48 hours before getting back in town from the war she was off fighting in for five years. they were friends before they were engaged and phillipa still has feelings. everyone is telling phillipa to get up and she’s not sure she wants to. moving on is the next big step in her life but it’s hard :(

Dai — there have been a few enemies that weren’t great but gold medal has to go to the traveller, not only for the fucked up enemy god stuff but also for making ozy like that(TM). kicking this shit out of him in the astral sea was pretty cathartic. and ozy’s like 50% less annoying now so overall everyone’s come out of the situation better off

Minah — the obvious and easy answer here is elias este who plotted and planned and set events into motion that ended with her fiancé executing her father and minah on the run. she didn’t look back until it was far too late to change anything. she has absolutely not moved on; she's got an arrow with his name on it
