A cloudless azure sky, rapidly melting snow, birds chirping in the trees, and the thermometer at 76° all make ripping out some (a lot) of a failed quilting experiment easier to take.

For the love of buffalo check and grosgrain ribbon.
remembered quilting can just be hodgepodge appliqué so i went and dug around in my scraps and i’m doing some collage, basically
Love it!

I should knit some toques. This January thaw will be over soon.
This is the quilt my great-grandmother made from the ribbons her gravedigger son brought home when the funeral wreaths died and had to be thrown out. Back then, the ribbons were made of good-quality satin and it seemed a shame to let the fabric go to waste, so she washed and ironed them and kept them rolled up in a drawer until there were enough to make a quilt top. It's faded quite a bit over the decades and lost some of its sheen. The bedstead was hers, too.
(The shams are modern and made of quilter's cotton.)
That's wonderful! I love stories like this! I'll share mine:
My grandmother's eldest sister sewed casket linings. The casket company used high quality satin. She and the other seamstresses were allowed to keep the remnants. She would make Christening and night gowns with the larger remnants of similar color and "small clothes" for herself and her daughters from the smaller pieces. When I inherited my grandmother's hope chest, there were several pieces from Great Aunt Mary's stash in the bottom. Nana had sewn the scraps together and wrapped her wool items in the satin to protect them from the cedar lining of the chest. Even the leftovers from the leftovers were put to good use.

This would make a wonderful quilt
The roof looks like it was embroidered
Finally had an idea for my mini quilt swap! My swap partner likes knitting too so I thought I'd try out a raw edge applique of knitting 🤔
I think i accidentally purled a row here but im liking how the stitches fit together and think I'm ready to go all in and cut all my fabric!
I'm starting the think the fabric i had picked out isn't high contrast enough (the way my practice ones were) but now i have to wait until after the holiday to go to the stores and find something better 🥺
Its coming together 😎
The green and purple one will now be my practice lol
My quilting stitches are so wonky 😭
They're done! Still debating whether I want to start over again so I can get those quilt stitches even 🤔
Brilliant!!

Found Cherry by Stuart Dunkel (*1952)
Big goals vibe
A super fast and super cute knit. The lucky duckling was my first Dot Pebbles (Claire Garland) knit and it will definitely not be my last!
Her designs are heartwarming and whimsical. For those of us who anthropomorphize everything, her patterns are gold. Check them out:
