Just putting it out there, desk mats are versatile. You don't have to set a keyboard on it if you don't want to. You could even use it as a craft mat for your woodworking skills. Feel like a lumberjack even if you can't swing an axe!

This lovely red and black check/ plaid flannel shirt Eddie is wearing - which imo doesn’t fit with his colour scheme throughout the show at all - I think its literally the only time we see him in such a bright red colour!!

Well this shirt is a specific type of check known as buffalo check. It was created in the 1850′s by a company called the Woolrich woollen mills. It became a staple for lumberjacks and cowboys - and as a result is considered an icon of both workwear and Americana! So I can see why they chose to put him in it - its a literal symbol of what Eddie represents - the hardworking, middle American. What I found funny about it though is that it’s being used in this scene - Where Buck is introducing him to Carla - Buck is from Pennsylvania and guess where Woolrich woollen Mills originated? Yup you guessed it Pennsylvania.
